O'Reilly and Lanny Davis just called Free Republic a Right Wing Hate site

Anybody watching OReily now? OReily says he'll point out and take to task any republicans going to right wing hate sites. Freerepublic was specifically mentioned.

I do not agree with every opinion voiced by Mr. O’Reilly, however, he has hit the nail on the head more than enough times to earn my respect. IMHO, if someone starts to think that my “home” harbors and/or encourages hatred and far-right-wing group-think, I’d sure want to re-evaluate my home to learn why someone would have come to that conclusion.

As for the roasting of Bill O’Reilly on this thread, perhaps some folks could step back from the group-rage and make a checklist of all the issues that we should be applauding Mr. O’Reilly for being outspoken on.

I doubt that the majority of comments on this thread will convince calm and rational people that FR is not as Lanny Davis described. That is a shame. This would have been a perfect opportunity for “FReepers” to show their best side, not their worst.

Jessica’s Law (God love you, BOR, for fighting for this)

Bill O’Reilly supports our troops, their mission, and the WOT.
He is often extremely critical of the far-left, Hillary, Pelosi, et al.

There is plenty of information on the internet regarding Mr. O’Reilly’s views on a wide array of topics. For starters, one can check out some historical BOR moments posted at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Bill_O’Reilly

In my opinion, Mr. O’Reilly deserves more than a bit of praise along with some criticism. Don’t we all?

What a smarmy blowhard O'Reilly is ...

If I'm gonna watch TV it will be a show about real folks. Not self centered, divisive hacks like O'Reilly. Don't know what I did before Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers, Orange County Choppers and assorted Brit-Coms.

The folks on Little People-Big World tower over O'Reilly.

I don’t think daily prayer threads can undo the damage done by a vast array of comments on other threads. One can have a prayer room in a house full of hate. I’m not saying FR is FULL of hate, but I have to be honest enough to acknowledge that all is not well in freeperdom.

Bill's just jealous of Jim Robinson, who is secure enough to let thousands of people voice their opinions in depth on his website.

O'Reilly rarely lets anyone discuss anything in depth and prefers "pithy" statements from his viewers.

You might want to consider the fact that O'Reilly has a one hour show, five days a week. Keeping it "pithy" seems to be an intelligent decision when one is under such time constraints.

Mr. Robinson has his forum open for comments 24/7/365. As for being secure enough to let thousands of people voice their opinions in depth..........well, reading is your friend. ;)

Lanny Davis was whining and lying saying that we Freepers said unspeakable things about Hillary. He's full of crap.

Oh c'mon Lanny. This coming from a political whore who has been in the game for years. What did we say about Hilary that was so "unspeakable"? Was it 'cankles'? Or perhaps 'Hitlery', or remarks about her fat butt? Oh the humanity. Lanny the princess is much too sensitive.

This is one of the few places where people have the guts to state the facts...and "they" can't STAND IT.

I just closely watched the rerun of BO and I took notes. I think there is a huge overreaction to the show.

First, O'Reilly did not mention FR or even comment on it. Lanny Davis mentioned Freedom Republic.com. The entire discussion was about the hate on KOSS which BO is steamed about. Not coming to the defense of FR is meaningless and probably has more to do with his ignorance of the site than anything else.

I think there is a lot of posters who do not like O'Reilly personally and are blinded to the mostly conservative views expressed by him. This is what he had to say tonight.

Attacks KOSS and MoveOnOrg and Democrat presidential contenders. Conservative

Said that if Democrat contenders are afraid of KOSS how would they handle Al Quida. Conservative

Attacks vile rapper. Conservative

Supported Catholic Priest who wants corporations to quit supporting trash with their advertising and spokespersons. Conservative

Questions Bush administration for removing National Guard from Mexican border. States that a secure border has to be number one.Conservative

Supported hate crime prosecution for koran dunker. Not conservative

Attacks KOSS and Democrat contenders again. Conservative

Compliments NY Times for reporting positive results in Iraq. Conservative

States things in Iraq are getting better because of Petraeous' strategy. Conservative

O'Reilly is the number one cable news show. At least tonight, he espoused mostly conservative positions. How does it help us to trash him?

O'Reilly did not dis FR tonight, he didn't even mention its name. If FR posters continue to trash, in a continuously coarser manner, anyone who does not agree with them 100%, fewer people will post and FR's influence will be diminished. That would be a shame.

BTW, I agree that O'Reilly is a blowhard, but he is a blowhard that can be used to promote the conservative agenda and that is important.

I agree with all your points. I think it’s foolish to attack O’Reilly and Fox News. This country would be in a much worse state if we didn’t have Fox News.

Do I agree with them all the time? Absolutely not. But they are getting the “other news” out there.

O’Reilly was calling out the Dim candidates for supporting the Kos. That was the point.

It is clear to me that Free Republic is not a hate site. I would not post here if it were.

Unfortunaly, some posters, especially on illegal immigration threads or any thread dealing with Hispanics, use Free Republic as a hate site in order to vent their hatred against ALL Hispanics be they illegal aliens or American citizens of Hispanic descent.

Case in point:

"Ask the women in the hispanic family (pictured at a Catholic Church at a family First Communion) if the father has a few putas on the side. .......38 posted on 07/28/2007 12:20:53 PM PDT by Regulator"

"Well, PB, you're running true to form. When ya gonna tell the rubes youza Eeeespannic? ..... 61 posted on 07/28/2007 6:25:13 PM PDT by Regulator "

You're a crack up, PB. Dude like you is exactly who we're talking about when we make fun of the pompous, self impressed "Hispanic" ( always capitalized, right El Caudillo? 'Cuz y'all are such Important People, right? Legends in yer own minds... ).

Why am I "self impressed"?

Because I called you out for posting this trash on Free Republic?

"Ask the women in the hispanic family (pictured at a Catholic Church at a family First Communion) if the father has a few putas on the side. .......38 posted on 07/28/2007 12:20:53 PM PDT by Regulator"

"Well, PB, you're running true to form. When ya gonna tell the rubes youza Eeeespannic? ..... 61 posted on 07/28/2007 6:25:13 PM PDT by Regulator "

You think that the fact that your family has lived in the mountains of the South for 10 generations makes you somehow better than any American citizen of, in your phrase, "Eeeespannic" descent and you think that makes whomever calls you on it "self important"?

And of course, the first thing you do is go off with yer "All ju damn Jankees eees Klansman!" rant.

No, Regulator, not "All ju damn Jankees eees Klansman!" .

I am a proud American citizen myself even if I am of, in your prase, "Eeeespannic" descent. (You seem to really enjoy mocking Mexican accents but I am of Cuban and not Mexican descent and my accent is East Coast generic. Out here on the West Coast, most people guess "New England".)

As I said before, I served for 20 years as a U.S. Naval Officer. My uncle, five years after landing on U.S. soil and four years after hitting the beach at the Bay of Pigs was severely wounded fighting for America at Landing Zone X-Ray at the Battle of Ia Drang and is referenced in the index of "We Were Soldiers Once... And Young" on seven different pages. My brother served in the 10th Mountain Division. However, for people like you, those of us of "Eeeespannic" descent do not count as Americans no matter how long we serve in the U.S. Armed Forces and no matter how much blood we shed on America's battlefiekds.

You, Regulator, are not Klansman material because you are a "Jankee".

You, Regulator, are Klansmen material because you post filth like this about your fellow American citizens of, in your vernacular,"Eeeespannic", descent that happen to be of a different ethnicity as yourself on Free Republic.

But, we can have a pissing contest amongst ourselves until hell freezes over on a thread that nobody but you and I are still reading to no purpose.

Better to let other Freepers decide.

There is a thread currently on Free Republic regarding Free Republic being called a "hate site" on the O'Reilley Factor.

I do not believe that Free Republic is a hate site. I would not post here if it were.

It is, however, self evident that some people such as yourself use Free Republic as a hate site and your posted comments about asking a lady of Mexican descent if her husband "has putas on the side" and your asking a fellow American citizen and Freeper "When ya gonna tell the rubes youza Eeeespannic?" are a perfect illustrative example to use for that thread to illusatrate that some bad apples do unfortunately disgrace Free Republic once in a while.

It is comments such as yours that get Free Republic unjustly labelled as a "hate site" in the national news media.

"States things in Iraq are getting better because of Petraeous' strategy. Conservative"

When did he say that? Because it was only a few days ago that he said this...

The Truth about Iraq [Bill O'Reilly: "Enough's enough ... Americans are sick of it" Fox News ^ | July 12, 2007 | Bill O'Reilly

"The president's argument for sustaining the war is largely theoretical and he is correct: A defeat in Iraq would harm the United States and could lead to a greater conflict down the road."

"But there comes a time when enough's enough. The U.S. military did not lose the Vietnam War, the country just became exhausted by it and a deal was made to get out of there. Same thing is happening in Iraq. After four years many Americans are just sick of it."

"Doesn't help the Iraqi government is incompetent and the people themselves largely ungrateful. ..."

"Iraq remains a huge stone around America's neck."

"And that's The Memo."

I think there is a huge overreaction to the show.

The vast majority of the reaction on this thread has nothing to do with the contents of tonight's show as aired on the FNC.

The responses are mostly a result of this thread's salacious title, which, after having had the benefit of viewing the segment in question several times, I find lacks any semblance as to what actually took place.

If I were the originator of this thread, after having had the luxury of watching the segment repeatedly, I would ask that the post and subsequent thread be pulled.

I noticed that the post was made @ 8 minutes past the hour, which was immediately after the segment ended. I trust that the originator of this post did not intend to intentionally mislead, but, after having had the benefit of hindsight, I would hope that the appropriate corrective measure be taken.

He said enough's enough....

From what I gather from other Freepers and the few times I have watched the show he has been leaning to the left on the war for a while now so this recent positive comment was totally inconsistent.
