A second South Korean hostage has been killed by the Taleban in central Afghanistan, local police say. They said the bullet-riddled body of the man was found at the side of the road in the village of Arizo Kalley, in Ghazni province.
The Taleban seized 23 Korean Christian aid workers, most of them women, on 19 July and shot dead their leader - a male pastor - last Wednesday.
Earlier, a video of the hostages was aired on Arabic TV station al-Jazeera.
A reporter for the Associated Press news agency at the scene said the victim appeared to be in his late 20s or early 30s and was found wearing white trousers and flip-flops.
A man claiming to speak on behalf of the Taleban said the militants had killed the Korean hostage on Monday evening because the Afghan government had refused its demands to release jailed rebels.
The BBC's Alistair Leithead in Afghanistan says the latest killing raises the stakes, piling pressure on Afghan President Hamid Karzai to save the remaining 21 captives.
The hostage video broadcast by al-Jazeera on Monday showed about seven women wearing headscarves with what appeared to be Taleban militants in the background.
The captives looked frightened but unharmed in the brief, shaky footage.

The impression I get, from talking to one Korean expat, is that the majority of S. Koreans blame Bush for dragging them into the conflict in Afghanistan and that plans were afoot to withdraw all their troops. Can anyone comment on whether this is accurate?
Karzai should put to death 10 imprisoned Taliban and then say release the South Korean hostages or more die. Don’t know if SK would like it, but obviously what is happening now is not getting them back.
Sadly, releasing one of the people the Taliban wants released in exchange for the hostages will result in more than 21 deaths.
Each Taliban barbarian released in all likelyhood will kills hundreds of people.
First, tell you friend to go figure out how to guard his country's northern border. I want all our U.S. troops there to come home now!
To your question, it may be accurate but it is anedotal. In other words, whoever you talked to may believe that but it is not representative of all thinking on the subject.
South Korea owes its existence to the U.S. Even if the U.S. is wrong in the Afghanistan conflict, Korea owes the U.S. its support. Not because the U.S. expects its but because it is the right thing to do.
Your friend sounds very young and irresponsible. Or perhaps he figures no matter what he does the U.S. will always come to the aid of his country.
He may be correct in that view - unless one day the U.S. is prevented from coming to anyone's aid because, say, a nuclear tipped warhead capable of reach the U.S. prevents it from doing so.
