Hi Bill,
I've been a subscriber to Free Republic for about two years. I've been involved in a lot of Freeper discussion groups and have led several threads, including one where I identified myself as a black Freeper, with no blatantly racial kickback. What the Freeper spokesman should have mentioned is that the discussion threads are SELF-POLICING...when someone gets out of line, my experience has been that somewhere down the thread, THEY WILL BE CALLED ON IT. Free Republic is first and foremost, a meeting place for conservatives. The discussions run overwhelmingly along ideological lines, that at times have racial subtexts. I have NEVER experienced blatant racism on the site. If I did I would challenge it, and so would others.

Also as a Black Freeper, I have attended many Freeper events both in DC and here in Texas. My experiences have been NOTHING but positive. I call many freepers friends and family, whatever color they are.
Jim Robinson has visited my city and he is a man of distinction, and Kristinn Taylor I consider a man of integrity and honor and a true friend.
I would appreciate the “I hate blacks” post pointed out to me so that we can refute the “Right Wing Hate Site” Label
I agree FR is better because “news” is posted but the facts can also be so a better picture of the situation can be understood.

Bill O’Reilly insinuated FR is a hate site. He quoted several posts as evidence, but tellingly, none were shown on screen. At least one of them was shown to be a post from 2002, and was part of an article, not a comment from a Freeper. Very dishonest of him.
BOR is just an entertainer. He has no interest in the truth, it is about show biz. I am sure he had some of his producers join freerepublic when he decided to do this segment. The producers jobs were to engage freepers for Bill’s self gratification and to prove to the world that he is the almighty “fair and balanced individual” who will not spin anything. I am sure he got a bunch of banana’s from the left to tune in to his toon town show.
So, your logical message to him has no bearing on his entertainment factor.

How much you want to bet someone claiming to be from FR will send BOR an email spouting some really hateful stuff and he will read it on the air tomorrow and say “see what I mean, this is a right-wing hate site.”
That is one of the neat things about FReeperland. We don’t focus on the color of the skin or gender. We focus on conservative values. Some FReepers have their photos in their profiles but other than that you really have no idea what their ethnicity is.

Its rare that I know the race of anyone here. We discuss, we sometimes argue but the only thing I see white here is the screen and the only thing I see black here is the text.

I have often said, when meeting fellow FReepers...that if ANY Freeper posted a note saying they were in some town in the USA and needed some help...there would be half a dozen of us scurrying to get to him and help them out.
FReepers would put you up for the night and drive you to the car repair, the airport or whatever is needed to get you back home.
Sheesh, we pray on the Boards for the sick and those who pass on. We take in each other’s stray animals, pay for vet bills of people we’ve never seen.
We talk on the internet and meet in person just to go to a ball game, have a picnic or even go to the Inauguration of GWBush.
Yeah, we have some rough ones here and there but today is my anniversary on FR...July 1998!!

Good job but I find the whole premise of Free Republic having to prove it is NOT racist - to be offensive. I find this notion that conservative = racist to be offensive and factually unsupportable. This is a stereotype we should attack and not get on the defensive about.

I’m a 47 year-old white boy who grew up as a firm believer in the idea that a man should be judged by the content of his character rather than by the color of his skin.
