O’Reilly has a big case of ego and the belief that if he thinks it (whether correct or not, whether thoroughly researched or not), it is true. He is Mister O’Reilly you know.

This is the big flaw in his show. He is never consistent, he does not think through the consequences of what he pushes on his program (other than how it benefits him).

He turns on Bush at critical times - as in the current declaration that the people will not allow the Iraq war if not solved by September. (As if the people are controlling what the terrorists do to us).

He ignorantly held to his claim that oil companies should become charitable organizations to provide oil to all cheaply, totally ignoring even Neil Cavuto’s attempts to educate him on the free market, that oil companies have to answer to stockholders and the huge costs to get the oil to the people.

He just chooses to wield his power in whatever direction he chooses based on his faulty research and thinking. But, that power only comes from viewers and the ego, abuse of power, faulty research and denial of truth will bring him down.

We are not fools and a reputation is built on the actions of the talk show host. You do not keep a reputation worthy of viewers when you take ego driven short cuts and use innocent groups for your own purposes.

The problem with that, is the O’Reillys of the world can easily take things out of context and make anybody look bad. All it takes is plucking a few sentences out of a lengthy post, and you can portray somebody in a negative light.

His ratings numbers are going to go further down. You don’t fish for FR fans by lying about them.

Of course we will get trash comments here but they are handled. Of course some people are a little off - but that is only because we are the people and there are a few “off” people in the population.

Which proves that O’Reilly does not want “all people”, he prefers “controlled free speech”.

I’m disappointed at O’Reilly for targeting a public forum like this one so unfairly.

O’Reilly always has insisted he is a moderate and judges each issue on its own merit. That’s fine with me and I enjoy watching him. Very often I agree with him and in the main consider him a positive influence in the Media.

BUT he should have learned from his many personal experiences with the witch hunters of the left that either you are totally with them or you are the enemy. And despite his allegations of being a moderate, they consider him an enemy.

Also, not stating this as representative of all or even the vast majority of posters here, some individuals are not as verbally adroit in expressing their views in the manner Mr. O’Reilly or most of his guests are. They are not professional media people, attorneys or politicians. Some of them tend to be rather blunt. They are ordinary decent citizens who have no voice except forums and blogs similar to this one. Thanks to them Dubai isn’t running our ports, Harriet Miners isn’t sitting on the Supreme Court, and the Bush-Kennedy-McCain illegal invader amnesty/rent-a-slave bill is dead in the water. But they have every right to express their opinions so long as those opinions are in keeping with Mr. Robinson’s guidelines, and he, not Mr. O’Reilly, is the owner of this list and the ultimate authority here.

The “stray bullet” comment was clearly not appropriate despite any personal feelings anyone may have about Ms. Clinton. Also, as someone pointed out, there is a fair number of saboteur who pop up here periodically who attempt to present racist or wacky views on a multiplicity of topics in an effort to discredit the conservative community.

On the OTHER hand, this site must literally have THOUSANDS of postings each day on myriads of topics. Trying to monitor all of these must be a monumental task, and it would seem from my experience that the monitors appear to be doing a commendable job of doing this.

I hope O’Reilly’s unfair presentation of this forum - and the discussions held here - do not exert undue influence on the monitors.

Everything Free Republic and its founder stands for are not “politically correct” from the perspective of the leftist culture warriors in the media and I hope it stays that way.

I’m sorry I missed last night’s O’Reilly Factor

And yet to appear even handed, he MUST counterbalance the hate on the left by saying it also happens on the right.

So he looks for examples, even if they are picayune.

Bush haters ? Being the president does not give him the privilege of destroying this nation with immigration .You cannot be nation if you don’t have borders . We do not have borders , only paths.

It’s not for the president, by the president, it for the people by the people ! he ignores the ‘people’.

I think you’re probably right on that one.

Part of me also hopes that the people on DU who call unborn children “parasites” are actually plants from the right trying to caricature the left. Unfortunately, the warm reception such posts get on DU leads me to conclude otherwise.

Anyway, how’s that for hate?

> I listened to some of his radio show yesterday, and he was making comments about how the internet slanders people and that there needs to be NEW LAWS TO POLICE THE INTERNET.

This is my biggest problem with him. Government is too powerful as it is. If DailyKooks spews idiocy, then it is out there for all to see, so what? Shutting down free speech on this thrilling new media would be a crime against the human spirit — this is the most democratizing force in history next to the printing press, it is exciting to be alive at this point in time.

Why do you think China regulates the internet so closely, Bozo O’Really, you degenerate? Don’t want to give up your powerful media stronghold to the pajama brigade? Tough. The freedom genie is out of the bottle, bloviator.

No plants and no need to change our moderating system. The moderators are fine. O’Reilly simply overstated or misrepresented his case.

I would think it was more like going off half cocked based on shoddy research. Mr Bill No-Spin O'Reilly was caught in an apparent lie while spinning like mad. I wonder if he employs a "processional moderator" on his own (for pay!) web site?

Regards,
GtG

someone send Bill a louffa and tell him to shut the hell up. First, in order to appear “fair and balanced” he concedes that which he cannot concede in debates - things like “We all know now Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction.” Total crap. So as not to appear partisan. Hey - if one party is right and the other is democrat - it is what it is. Then, after going after Daily Kos, deservedly, he finds some crap to throw FR under the bus....and part of it is flat out untrue....yep, send him a louffa and a telephone calling card.

O’Reilly is probaby mad because he has been criticized on this site. So he is just another person who can dish it out but can’t take it. Big shock. As media types go, he is far better than average. Isn’t that sad. He is still human and the power of the media has gone to his head. He fancies himself the thought police, keeping everyone as accountable to himself as possible. It isn’t too pretty. I just can’t be all that mad when so many are even worse than he is. Let him hate us. I don’t care.
