Prayer Thread for Dr. William Petit
Billy Kess

Posted on 08/02/2007 1:17:33 PM PDT by PatriotEdition

I don't know if there is a thread for this already. If there is, I am sorry for the carbon copy. I did do a search and came up empty, so I am assuming that a prayer thread for this man has not yet been posted.

The other day, when I picked up the NY Post, I almost choked up. I didn't realize until I saw this photo how much this triple murder would effect me. Until I saw this, it was just another senseless murder in America.

Seeing this filled me with rage - as well as extreme compassion for Dr. Petit. He has lost all.

I am not much of a praying man, so I will ask that my fellow Freepers might come up with the right words. All I can say is may God give this man the strength to somehow... some way... carry on.

And to the monsters who did this... may their minds be filled with torment every waking moment of the rest of their miserable lives. And may that, be short. May their punishment be swift and severe and without mercy - as they have shown no mercy to their innocent victims. And in the end - may God judge them accordingly.

I’d rather bust the perps out of jail and torture them to death. Six months in a basement with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch, until they begged to be killed.

Been saying a prayer for that family since the moment I heard about it, I can’t even imagine how he will keep going on after losing so much of his life.

And what kind of a God would allow this? I know its an old question, but at this point, I do not ask it lightly.

Right on to that. I have been brought up not to hate. Not to even use the word ‘hate’. But there are times when hate is warranted and legitimate.

One case was on 9/11 where Muslims all over the world were laughing, dancing, and celebrating. Chanting “Bull’s Eye!” and handing out candy.

Another case is this case. I look at those photos of these 2 demons and I think of what they did, and I hate them. I want to hurt them. I want to see them suffer. I hate them!

God gave us free will - and unfortunately, that comes with a price. This was the work of Satan - just as 9/11 was the work of Satan. God is here and someday he will put an end to all this madness. This is the devil’s world. That is why these things are happening. One day, God is going to step in and the evil ones are going to be running for cover, but there will be place for them to hide.

Yep. Anybody who can’t hate subhuman vermin like these two pieces of excrement doesn’t have much empathy toward their innocent victims.

A friends daughter is a Chiropractor in Ct., she knew Dr. Petit and referred patients to him and visa versa. She said, he is a fine man and a great doctor. So sad.

The perps had a criminal record and were released and released.
Connecticut "justice". Blame those who released them.
Want improvement? Then hang them with their lawyers.

I second the notion, you are tripping into dangerous territory when you blame this great evil on God Himself.

We are the sinners. We are the ones who choose to sin. Thankfully you and I did not choose to commit this hideous crime, but we’ve committed many others - sins anyway, if not hideous crimes.

What we need to wonder at is that God found it in Himself to save any of us. He provided his law, which is for our own good; we repeatedly and continually break it; so, he sent His own Son a sacrifice so that, through Him, we can all escape even our own evil tendencies and end up in heaven. . .

were “there is no crying, no death, no sickness, no sorrow. . .”

It is the enemy who rejoices at the sufferings of men. It is Jesus who delights in their salvation.

God is not responsible. You need to check the OTHER side of that coin.

We were created with the ability to choose our actions. The same God that made a person who chooses to act in the way these criminals did is the same God who created Billy Graham and Mother Teresa (sp?). Free will is a two-edged sword. Our creator made the decision to give us free will, to do otherwise would have resulted in little more than our being puppets. God has never made any excuses for our free will, His word is chock full of examples of bad things happening to good people. This world is not our home, we are simply pilgrims passing through on our way to eternity. As unfair as life seems to be here on Earth and in this life, the place prepared for us to spend an eternity is just as fair.

That having been said, let me hasten to add that there are indeed situations that I really can’t understand and this is certainly one of them.

“And what kind of a God would allow this?”

A God that knows He can un-do it.

God is not trapped in Time.

I love the words of the great old hymn “This is My Father’s World”, in the third verse or so where it says:

This is my Father’s World,
And let me ne’er forget,
That though the wrong seems oft’ so strong,
God is the ruler yet!

Amen.

I’ve heard of very few murders that have risen to this level of violence. When I saw this on the news, the story left me with a knot in the pit of my stomach...hard to believe that humans can do this to other humans. Prayers have been going out nightly since reading this.

We have free wills. The pigs that did this made their own choices. I hope they burn in hell for those choices.

I hope they burn in hell for those choices.

They just better hope they don't end up in lesser_satan's basement:

Wha-the-f***? What's this place? Looks like - somebody's basement!

Whew! For a minute there, I thought we were going to Death Row.

You are most welcome. I hesitate to pontificate on such matters since I am certainly not a theologan or even a minister. I have however come to have a profound faith in God and feel badly for those who don’t have such a foundation.

Here is a great message about faith and its place when it comes to dealing with tragedy.

http://ww2.intouch.org/site/c.dhKHIXPKIuE/b.3057523/k.60E1/Our_Choices_in_the_Midst_of_Tragedy.htm

You will have to cut and paste it into your browser address space. I am not sure how to turn it into a link and am headed out the door to a photo shoot so don’t have the time right now to look it up!

My suggestion to people who are not sure about the existence of God is to try talking to Him. Find a quiet place and ask Him to communicate with you. No fancy words, no magic phrases, just a heartfelt plea that He let you know that He’s there and He cares about you and your problems. He just might surprise you!

I’m glad you posted this. I read about the crime at the time, even a few suggestions that perhaps the doctor hired the two thugs. Still, I find myself among those who’ve become inured to hideous crimes that we see and read about on a regular basis, and go on with our lives. The media moves on and so do we. We need reminders that just because coverage of a story passes, the pain for survivors does not.

God bless Dr. Petit, may he find strength and comfort in his enormous loss.
