Hey, Bill!
You've got a tough job up there in the clouds riding herd over the folks. Apparently you're having problems with the folks speaking out against the America hating left. But that's ok. Just keep your eyes closed, ears plugged and your jaws flapping. Eventually the folks will tune you out and we'll all be better off for it.
FReepers:
We're taking flak so we know we're over the target. Fire at will! Fire for effect!

O’Reilly is just making the same mistake a lot of (bad) journalists make- relying on what he has heard about FR and not his own research.
Of course if he spent the amount of time I have ‘researching’ FR he would not have a show... freeping is my daily habit

I already only listen to O’Reilly, if at all, in two brief settings:
1) (radio) between Rush commercials; and
2) when it’s Miller Time (Dennis Miller guest segment).
My wife can’t stand him at ALL.
It’s not to say I don’t often take the same position he does. But unlike him, I hope, I don’t feel this need to take LOOK HOW NOT-LOCKSTEP I AM stances 150 times a year, just to prove I’m not One Of Those Horrible Conservatives.

___________________________________________________________
Bill.
I saw the small amount of “hate speech” your staff found on FreeRepublic, including the out of context “dog in the manger” . Why did you fail to clearly point out that the “hate speech” posted regularly on DailyKOS is 100 fold more prevalent than on FreeRepublic?
It appears like you’re spinning the facts to cover your mistake in comparing FreeRepublic to DailyKOS (daily chaos). You should be embarrassed, and I would hope you would point out that while the few incidents found at FreeRepublic are rare and unacceptable to FReepers, the bile that is peddled at DailyKOS is common place and accepted by their management.
I sincerely believe that a public apology to Jim Robinson and the members of FreeRepublic is in order.
Sincerely,
Chris Xxxxxx

O’Reilly’s no conservative. He feels a strong need to distance himself from REAL conservatives.
Fine with me.
Dear Mr. O’Reilly:
There was a time I respected you, and thought you really stood up for the truth. Not any more. A hundred thousand people have registered to post on this site, and some jerk takes a few posts out of context, and you believe it?
Where’s that “fair and balanced” no spin popinjay? Out bloviating somewhere?

He really screwed the pooch this time. What conservative audience he retained after defending Dan Rather and attacking the Swift Boat Vets has been shredded by this debacle. I was howling at the TV when he shouted down Kristinn with his lies. He has lost my household, and I used to generally enjoy his "Talking Points Memo".
Too bad he has imploded like this, many were even willing to give him the benefit of the doubt with the sexual harassment thing. I think most are rethinking it and coming to new conclusions about his honesty.

O’Reilly made disparaging remarks about FreeRepublic during the Enron debacle. At that time, we had a Freeper who had been covering the Enron scandal during the Clinton administration, before there was any scandal in the news. I emailed O’Reilly, who was crying the blues over a lost investment in Enron, and told him that if he had been paying attention to FreeRepublic, he would not have lost money on Enron.

Here is the email I sent this morning:
Dear Bill,
Re your segment about the hate site Free Republic:
Your willingness to stretch the truth, if not flat out lie, about one of the best discussion boards on the web, has shown the participants of that forum that your observations are not reliable. You have damaged your own credibility with a large number of your traditional audience.
I hope you will have further follow-up segments on your further investigation into the true tone of FreeRepublic.
It is not ‘fair and balanced’ to try to make two unequal things equivalent. Children learn that physical fact when they learn how to play on a seesaw in the park. The weights on each side must be equivalent, or one weight must be closer to the fulcrum in order for the weight to be ‘balanced.” You placed the quoted remarks from FreeRepublic on a plane with websites that drip with hate, but you know that the weights are not the same.

Parity is the essence of PC. It's the biggest lie of all. Once acquiesced to truth can never be found, only death. Individuals, couples, families, groups, neighborhoods, nations, hemispheres, races, species, gods and even political forums are different. And not just different-equal but different-better or worse.
