Administration of the city Kazan, which is considered the Muslim hub of Russia, has extensive plans of turning the city into an influential centre of business and religious tourism and to attract pilgrims from around the world, like Mecca.

By the way, Borat film is officially banned in Russia :)
“By the way, Borat film is officially banned in Russia :)”
- Is it?
I wouldn’t find it surprising if it was banned in Kazakhstan
(although Borat actually is very popular among ordinary people over there), but why is it banned in Russia???
“- Is it?
I wouldnt find it surprising if it was banned in Kazakhstan”
Ha-ha! How did you guess? I heard it was really banned in Kazakhstan. At first they were offensed by Borat, but after the film had caused an influx of tourists to their country they stopped moaning.
“At first they were offensed by Borat, but after the film had caused an influx of tourists to their country they stopped moaning.”
- Authorities are stupid everywhere.
“...but why is it banned in Russia?”
- Well, in the news it was said that the Federal Agency of Culture and Cinematography of Russia thought that some parts of the film could be found offensive by people of some nationalities and religions.
Anyway, it is possible to buy a pirate copy of the film (what i actually did) and to watch older series on the Internet (on YouTube). I bought a DVD in both Russian and English, but the Russian translated version deprives the film of the humour the English version has.
They should expel them all and turn the city into an amusement park.
“They should expel them all and turn the city into an amusement park”
- Why should they do it? They are Russian citizens. Russia is one of the few countries where people of different religious confessions have managed to live in peace for ages with no religion-based conflicts.
... on the bright side (and I really mean ‘bright’ (potentially)), higher concentrations of the enemy means greater ROI for each warhead.
Hope mooselimb problems tie russia into knots.
How do ya like them apples there Puttie?
Huh?

Does this mean there’s going to be a SIXTH pillar now?
“Administration of the city Kazan””—
Kazan was conquered by Ivan the Terrible, and to symbolize the triumph of Christianity over Islam, he built the Cathedral of Kazan on Red Square (the crosses on top of the towers rest on Islamic crescents).
Maybe somebody wants to undo history?

You`ve chosen an inappropriate example indeed. That wasn`t a conflict based on religion - it was a terrorist act which has no religion or nationality. Terrorism has spread over the world only within the recent years (and concerned Russia too), while Russia has long history.
“Kazan was conquered by Ivan the Terrible, and to symbolize the triumph of Christianity over Islam, he built the Cathedral of Kazan on Red Square (the crosses on top of the towers rest on Islamic crescents).”
— The Cathedral in Red Square isn`t named after Kazan. Initially it is the Cathedral of the Virgin of Kazan. Besides, it wasn`t built to symbolize the triumph of Christianity over Islam - that`s bullshit. The original church was erected as a shrine in the early 1630s to mark the city’s liberation from the Polish aggressors.

“ISLAM... headchoppers... mo the pedophile child raper”
— You`re talking about some kind of extremism. There are also extremist cults in some other religions too, not only Islam. I`ve been to the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan is its capital) many times and never seen any agression or extremist behaviour of the muslim locals there. That republic is populated by both muslims and christians and they have no conflicts on religious basis.
Beslan is not a matter of religion, it`s a matter of location. Caucasus and Middle East are known to always be in conflict with other countries and to be involved in wars. It is where terrorism comes from, not from Islam itself.
“Russia is one of the few countries where people of different religious confessions have managed to live in peace for ages with no religion-based conflicts.”
- You have GOT to be joking.”
I`m not joking. It`s my opinion and i have the right to stick to it.
Ah. The perfect defense.
So. The Jewish “Pale” didn’t exist?
Imperial Cossacks didn’t lead Pogroms?
Czarist Okrana didn’t write “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion”?
Lithuanian Catholics weren’t forbidden to erect Crosses in the 19th century?
etc etc etc.
So ignore away. It won’t change the reality.
You have the world in which you live bass ackwards!

I’m not sure if it is officially banned in Russia; however, I did see copies of Borat’s film in the shopping malls in Moscow. Of course many of the DVDs are pirated and some electronics such as cell phone have been previously used... maybe stolen then resold. Not all... but many.
Man, if you don’t think “modern day” terrorism has anything to do with Islam, I suggest you open your eyes.
If you’re simply just an apologist for the Jihadists, then may I suggest a more appropriate forum.

—— First of all i`m not a man, and secondly, you may keep your suggestions for yourself. Yes, i don`t think that it is entirely Islam to blame for terrorism, but this is not a reason for me to go to a different forum. It is probably you who would be more appropriate at some Irlam-haters forum.
What is wrong with hating Islam?
I hate fascism and communism. Is there anything wrong with hating those ideologies?
There are none so blind as those who refuse to open their eyes.
Even if you hate something, other people have the right not to hate the things you hate. It seems that you can never accept the fact that people may have opinions different from yours.
Opinions are not the same as the truth. You’re wrong.
muslims have been attacking non-muslims there for years.
The years of atheistic rule by Stalin and Lenin resulted in great persecution of religious folks.
Jews haver been greatly persecuted by non-Jews and driven from their villages and hated by the villagers.
Why are you supporting islam? Are you muslim?
