This morning only a couple of minutes before 5am, I was surfing around when I came upon Fox News. Bill O'Reilly was closing out his show with him reading off a few viewers emails and him giving a small response to each one. One of them defended FreeRepublic, saying that doing a search, Daily Kos had thousands of certain cuss words, and FR had none. O'Reilly's response to that was: "FreeRepublic Needs A Monitor. It Has None." (And then he moved on to another email)
"..Alan Novak, Wichita, KS: "Comparing the Free Republic to the Daily Kos, I searched the F-word. Daily Kos, almost seven thousand mentions. Free Republic, none.""
Am I missing something?
After Bill’s slander is FreeRepublic now a hate site? Should I stop Freeping from work?
The PC managers don’t know anything about anything but if they get the impression I am on a hate site, things will not go well for me.
No intent to high-jack, but this is a legitimate and serious concern to me.
Earlier in the program (I saw the same rerun) he made a comment to the effect that political ‘hate’ speech posed a direct threat to politicians and (gasp) journalists, and that there should be laws protecting them....
My (mental) comment was “Bill, there’s no immediate direct threat to you, personally... We can wait until we gather all of you up..”
Do you imagine such a status would hinge on a slander by Bill O'Reilly?
Bill “O” delivers a smack from the back of his hand to Free Republic.
Ouch. THAT’S gonna leave a mark.
There is a saying, Don’t get mad, get even.
Except in feuds like this, there is never a point where things are “even”.
I don’t think he ever understood what Kristinn was trying to explain about the moderator situation here. If he had, he wouldn’t have gotten all hung up on whether the moderators were paid or volunteers. Unfortunately, he didn’t give Kristinn a chance to explain.
Gee, I see comments pulled by moderators all the time. Obviously, he doesn’t spend enough time on this site. (Imagine that)
“The PC managers dont know anything about anything but if they get the impression I am on a hate site, things will not go well for me.

Does your IT department block ‘inappropriate’ sites like Playboy? If so, just claim that you thought all such sites were blocked, and anything else was fair game.
If they persist, strengthen your resolve and stand up for your principles...or stop surfing at work. ;-)
And O’Reilly needs to take his meds.
I know FR is Great and in no way similar to KOS, however, my bosses do not know up from down.
They are typical scared uninformed liberals.
I just don’t want to get in any trouble.
Unlike the Free Republic Bill O’Reilly cannot be debated on his show(s) and monitors what is said there.
Let me translate Bill into English:
“WAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! They’re making fun of meeeeee...”
No, but the poster has a point. I noticed a few years ago that our former firewall considered FR a banned site. Then I noticed a pattern of conservative sites blocked and things like DU, which definitely breaks several of our regs concerning usage, were not. Seems the manufacturer of the firewall was a lefty org. Obviously some manager high up likes sites like this as they all became accessible one morning.
Basically, Michael Savage was correct about Bill. He is not that bright or intellectual. Of course Free Republic needs a monitor to control it’s postings; Bill would love that job. Then he could remove news or information he does not like; just as would the Marxist Democrats with their censorship initiative. Then Free Republic and PBS would have something in common, socialist drivel with low audience ratings.
LOL... I can never quite figure out where O’Reilly is coming from.
O’Reilly for some reason, is still receiving high ratings. I believe he goes over the top on both sides too many times for his show to be objective. His definition of Objectivity is his way or the highway.
Yawn. Who’s Bill O’Reilly?
Actually, I think he said that the website needed full time monitoring and poo poo’d something about them being ‘volunteers’.
My guess it that it was a mistake and he said FR but meant kos
Roger Ailes should have fired O’Reilly a couple of years ago when he was caught screwing around with the help.
FreeRepublic is in no way a “hate site”. The rules of the forum, the (general) behavior of the participants, and the analytical content of the posts all militate against such hatefulness as one sees over at other sites (which shall remain nameless).
FR explicitly disallows abusive or violent posts, and has a specific mechanism for removing any posts that transgress. Further, repeated flouting of the rules has and does result in the poster being banned for their breaking the rules.
If the above doesn’t mean that FR is NOT a “hate site”, then every workplace in the US should be shut down as “hostile environments” - because I know of no such workplaces that actually encourage open and honest debate while deliberately and consistently enforcing the rules of acceptable behavior on the participants.
JMHO.
“Earlier in the program (I saw the same rerun) he made a comment to the effect that political hate speech posed a direct threat to politicians and (gasp) journalists, and that there should be laws protecting them....”
Further confirming my opinion that he’s mentally deficient.
There are laws against threats. What the bloody hell is he talking about?
Now, if I say that I wouldn’t mind seeing O’Reilly captured by pygmies, skinned alive, and dumped screaming into boiling salt water...well, that’s protected speech. Any call for direct action would be a threat. Right Ann Coulter? heh
” OReilly for some reason, is still receiving high ratings “
AT the time I get up in the morning, my choices are the O’Reilly rerun and Infomercials — Some mornings, “Intestinal Blockage” is the better alternative.....
He has not just fallen in love with who he sees in the mirror he now worships that guy. In the end it will be his own arrogance that fries him.
I heard FR mentioned on Mark Lavin’s show last night. They love this site.
The man ia a pip.
Aren’t you supposed to be working at work?
Somethimes when I see posts that are removed by the Moderator, I almost wished that I had seen what they removed... almost! ; )
What O’Reilly and his conservaliberal ilk really mean is that Free Republic needs a censor. Say what you really mean, Billy Boy.
Sometimes I do, but only after pookie toons
I figured as much, but it's Friday! ; )
Mark Levin, aka “The Great One” is a FReeper!
You’ve been a Freeper for about 3.5 months. You should be able by now to decide whether it’s a hatesite or not. If you’re afraid that the boss or IT guy takes the privilege of surfing on office’s computer, then perhaps you need to speak up when they find out or simply start freeping at home. Another option: invite them to be a Freeper.
Can someone post this guys email address? time for some Freepin’ I think.
O’Reilly is his own man. He seems eccentric and leans to authoritarian. He’s not conforming to any party, except maybe what he calls traditional Judeo Christian philosophy. I am shocked by his slip shod research on FR.
Shouldn't you be working at work anyway? That's the best way to avoid getting into trouble. I know I would get a little ticked off if my employees spent the day surfing instead of working. [That's my job :o)]
But if you are allowed to use your breaks or lunch surfing the net, your boss shouldn't care if you spend it reading news and public opinion of the things concerning the nation, even if you go to sites like daily Kuss, or DU (puke)
That needed to be repeated!........... ;-)
My opinion is that BOR is riding the airwaves to fame and fortune and making pronouncements like "FR needs a monitor" is his way of doing it.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
:: looks around ::: what did he say???
The guy who they had on yesterday, his name escapes me, was also right on target yesterday.
It is so refreshing to hear people speak the truth without backing down.
Ahem, Pietro...the proper spelling is masquerade... :P
Just doing the monitoring BOR claims we don’t do. /s
That is all.
How do you justify freeping from work, at all. Are you stealing time from your employer, or it is your time? That is the distinction that governs, for the most part, whether they can tell you what to do. That and the fact that it is their computer.
Tom Marr (sp) subbed last night for Mark.
I knew trouble was up when I was being pinged by your screen name.
LOL
o’bloviator needs meds... has none.
