"In my life I've made some mistakes and I've done some things I'm not proud of but I always tried my best to represent my community and hope to continue to do so," he told the News.
"Obviously this is a difficult time for me and my family," he added. "But my family believes in my and know I would not do what I am accused of doing."
His accuser sounded relieved when a reporter told her about the grand jury's decision but said prosecutors asked not to comment on the case anymore.
On Wednesday she said Gallagher's story was "all B.S."
She told cops she met Gallagher in a Middle Village bar, Danny Boy's, and he offered to give her a ride home. Instead, she claims he forced her up to his office where he raped her, according to police reports obtained by the News.
The indictment is the first against a sitting Council member since Brooklyn Democrat Angel Rodriguez was indicted in 2002 for allegedly trying to extort money from a real estate developer seeking approval of a controversial project. Rodriguez was later convicted and sentenced to 52 months in prison.
Gallagher will be facing up to 25 years in prison on at least once charge of first-degree rape, sources told the News.

He’s (surprisingly) a GOP - but it doesn’t matter. Throw his butt in jail and keep it there.
When did he quit busting watermelons? hehehehe
Um, do you mind if we sort of have one of them trial things to determine if, you know, something actually happpened?
He looks kinda like Waxman.
I thought rape was okay of you were in elected office ??? (sarc off)
Like the DUKE LaCrosse players, I presume.

An elected official has to be in a higher office than council members.
But when I clicked on this story, I really, really, really thought the headline read "Comedian Gallagher indicted for rape".
Gallagher (the comedian) is actually pretty funny. I remember this one joke he told, where he wondered what a chair would look like, if your knees bent the other way— ha ha
For some unknown reason, I formed this mental picture of him:
HMMMM.
Very difficult to know who is telling the truth. No third party witness saw the act itself so it’s “he said, she said.” She met him in the bar and left with him willingly. At a minimum, he used poor judgment. The DA is a democrat, as will be the judge and the greater part of the jury pool. Guilty or not, this guy’s in trouble

OK, how big is this guy that he can take a grown woman and force her up to his office. Could she not scream? Were there people in the streets? Was there a knife or a gun involved? You’re right, one of those trial thingamagigs before passing judgement.
What the article doesn't say:
(1) The bar Danny Boy's is down the block from the house he shared at the time with his wife and two small children All his neighbors go there to have after-work beers and watch sports on the big screen. His behavior couldn't have been more blatant.
(2) The bar is across the street from his district office. He and this woman were both rip-roaring drunk according to people at the bar.
(3) He is 43. The woman who he admits committing adultery with and who is accusing him of rape is a 52 year old lunchlady at his local parish's parochial school.
Guy throws away his career and his marriage to to fornicate with an AARP-card carrying lunchlady.
Yeah. If a guy is going to throw away his career and his marriage to fornicate with someone, it should at least be with a 19-year-old concierge at a resort where he's staying.
I presume you're too young and inexperienced to have ever had your "bells rung" by a 52 year old mature experienced woman enjoying herself..
I don't defend or disregard the rape -- I'm just pointing out that slandering mature women is going to cost you the loss of unmeasurable joy in your mature years, if you ever get there..

"Very Nice"

Christie Brinkley at 52...
I would post a photo of my Saintly Wife at age 66, but then I'd have to start packing heat again to drive off the mobs....
I am going to go out on a limb and make the statement that Christie Brinkley is an outlier.
Wake up!

I heard that this woman weights 200 pounds and Gallagher much less. I have been told that her story is falling apart.
Here, here! I am over 50 and still get “oggled” (or is or ooggled?) on occasion. 50 is today’s “40”.
