RENNES ( 2007-08-01 22:06:48 ) : Twenty-one illegal immigrants have been detained in a port town in northwestern France, a police source said on Wednesday.
The foreigners, including 11 Iraqis, four Syrians, and six Iranians, were apprehended Tuesday by border police in Cherbourg, where they had hoped to gain access to Britain.
They were expected to be brought before a judge within 48 hours who will decide their situation, said the same source. They were taken to a newly opened detention centre in Rennes.
Several incidents have occurred during the last few weeks at the port of Cherbourg involving illegal immigrants trying to hide in vehicles leaving via ferry destined for Britain.
The French minister in charge of immigration, Brice Hortefeux, estimated that at the end of July there were between 200,000 and 400,000 illegal aliens in France, and announced his determination to send them back to their own countries.
That Rio Grande is a long river.
I just wonder if they were recent graduates from the ‘Al Qaeda College of Jihadists’?
Now we know where those Mexican tunnels we haven’t found come up.
Can we borrow this guy for a while?
We should be recruiting this Brice guy right now, French or not, to replace Chertoff and his open borders buddies.
