A day after blasting Democratic presidential rival Sen. Hillary Clinton for accepting campaign donations from News Corp. officials, John Edwards acknowledged that he, too, had gotten payments from an arm of the company but said all of the money went to charity.
The reality of this clown is just as, if not more, amusing than the caricatures some times. :)
“The time has come for Democrats to stop pretending to be friends with the very people who demonize the Democratic Party,” Edwards said.
There is so much irony in this quote, is there not?
Is the “Phony Pony” saying he has too much money that he shouldn’t have or that no one else deserves to have as much money as he?

John Edwards campaign is exactly the same place John McCains is “In the Past”. It’s over it’s just that no one has told him. Gaffs like this just go to show what a amateur he really is.

There’s no way that News Corp. recovered the 800K given to Edwards from the sale of the that crappy book, and Murdoch knew it never would.
As others have observed, Rupert Murdoch is ideologically right wing, but he is also a political player, which might be necessary given politicians’ control over some electronic media via the FCC, and given politicians’ control over big business generally via the antitrust division of the Justice Department.
So the 800K was a business expense, happily unnecessary because Edwards will never be President.

Since he’s claimed he passed the $500K onto ‘charity’ I’m sure that enterprising reporters will demand to see the receipts from immediately after he received the $500K and (supposedly) made the donations. Don’t fall for just any charitable receipts totalling $500K long after he received the Murdoch check, and don’t fall for any funding to his “poverty center” (just a boondoggle to employ his campaign staff) counting as “charity”....... finally, let’s see a full accounting of that $300K for ‘photographers’ — how on earth does one spend remotely close to that sum on photographers for one book jacket????

I just don't see where Edwards would accept the #2 slot again. I'm still expecting Obama to be Hillary's VP, but I'm hedging my bet because Obama's raised more money than Hillary, and Oprah hasn't opened her checkbook yet.
It's going to get nastier the closer we get to the end of the year, as Obama and Edwards see Hillary's lead grow. I expect some very hard feelings over these battles to come, because Obama and Edwards (and their supporters) are going to learn that the Clintons take no prisoners.

Of course Edward refuses to answer question as to what charity he “donated” this money to or to provide any verification that he actually did donate this money. I don’t believe him for a second. That was a year’s worth of haircuts for him.
I don’t usually watch it, but overnight the guy on Fox News’ Redeye show said, “Is John Edwards as stupid as his hair is shiny?” LOL
