Bob Owens has been in contact with the Public Affairs Officer for General David Petraeus: Its Official:
Beauchamps Claims Debunked by Army Internal Investigation.
Col. Steven Boylan, Public Affairs Officer for U.S. Army Commanding General in Iraq David Petraeus, just emailed me the following in response to my request to confirm an earlier report that the U.S. Armys investigation into the claims made by PV-2 Scott Thomas Beauchamp made in The New Republic had been completed.
He states:
To your question: Were there any truth to what was being said by Thomas?
Answer: An investigation of the allegations were conducted by the command and found to be false. In fact, members of Thomas platoon and company were all interviewed and no one could substantiate his claims.
As to what will happen to him?
Answer: As there is no evidence of criminal conduct, he is subject to Administrative punishment as determined by his chain of command. Under the various rules and regulations, administrative actions are not releasable to the public by the military on what does or does not happen.
Make him work in a VA hospital for the rest of his enlistment..................
Ping
send him to deal with the prisoners at Guantanamo - they sound like his kind of bunch.
Nah...
Cleaning bed pans?
for starters.........
Emptying bedpans!
He should be the honored guest at the platoon's next blanket party.
Does anyone expect an apology or mea culpa from TRN? We are owed it but my guess is they will try to slide. To be sure the MSM will probably give them a pass.
BTTT
Look, I have never even been to Minnesota, but if you're not plugged into the Northern Alliance, you're missing the best worldwide "local" broadcast of conservative thought. Hit the podcast at TownHall.com Figure it out; you're probably better a this stuff than I am.
Also, here's a shameless pimp for my own blog entry regarding Slate's Sam Anderson, somebody who couldn't imagine that anyone would find Garrison Keillor anything less than pleasant, in the wake of Keillor's then-new movie: http://revwatch.blogspot.com/2006/06/prairie-home-com-shut-hell-up.html
Also (again), you should check out Lileks at either lileks.com, or buzz.mn. You'll learn that Minnesota is not at all about whatever the hell Keillor thinks it is. Except for the DFL. No hope there.
Also, you should check out Keegan's Irish Pub in Minneapolis, on University, just steps west of Hennepin. And J.K. Tompson, the official remodelers (or contractors, whatever) of the Northern Alliance.
That's how good these guys are. I live in Japan, but through their advertising, I know where to get a drink and a conservative conversation in Minneapolis. And, uh, some stairs built. That's how much I listen to these guys. One of the hosts of the show is John Hinderaker, who is one of the principals of PowerLine Blog. Well, maybe they'll send me a coffee mug or something. But if everything you learned about Minnesota was from Garrison Keillor, you have missed an enjoyable education. And if that's not true, then what a dreadful .sig you have chosen. Eww.
As for your comment (making Mr. Beauchamp work in a VA hospital), forget that. Make him work on the friontlines with those men better than himself who he has maligned. Then his torment will be to live out the rest of his days knowing that none of his betters actually shot him in the forehead when any one of them could have. How better to learn his rightful place of gratitude and unending penance?
Finally, Every time I hear of this nonsense, I think of the clueless writer in the Clint Eastwood movie Unforgiven; W. W. Beauchamps, attempting to correct Hackman's pronunciation of "Duke" in Beauchamps' book "The Duke of Death". "Duke." Gene Hackman as Sheriff Little Bill, over lowered spectacles: "Duck, I says." And there it ends.
ahem, the guy has a BIG mouth and tells lies........like Guantanamo needs that kind of publicity.........they need to put this guy on latrine duty in the heart of Baghdad and forget about him.
Last I heard, TNR was still standing by their reporter and her husband, Beauchamp. They even said they has re-confirmed with other members of his platoon that the stories were mostly true.
Here’s what I think: The stories are false, but Beauchamp’s platoon has a problem with him, and they have helped to set him up for a fall.
BTW, at what point on this story did we find out that the TNR reporter was Beauchamp’s wife? I heard it for the first time yesterday.
Sadly, the libs will still believe every word to the bitter end.
has = had
Even better, put this guy into special training so that he can lead President Obama’s invasion of Pakistan.
I know a couple of JAG Officers at my AFB that would love to get a hold of this kid under their jurisdiction. At best I believe he should get a Bad Conduct Discharge, busted down to E-1 (not a big drop for this loser), and a couple of years vacation in one of our more prominent Military Detention Facilities. This might give him some time to reflect on why he is in there and by the time he gets out he will no longer be the darling of the lunatics on the left.
Sounds like PV-2 Scott Thomas Beauchamp's Battalion Commander using Art. 15 nonjudicial punishment could soon make him PV-1 Scott Thomas Beauchamp doing 45 days extra-duty and a hefty forfeiture of his 1/2 of his pay for 3 months under Art. 134 of the UCMJ.
ART. 134. GENERAL ARTICLE
Though not specifically mentioned in this chapter, all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces, all conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces, and crimes and offenses not capital, of which persons subject to this chapter may be guilty, shall be taken cognizance of by a general, special or summary court-martial, according to the nature and degree of the offense, and shall be punished at the discretion of that court.
he is subject to Administrative punishment as determined by his chain of command.
I had a flight chief in Korea who would say "I can't make you do it, but I can make you wish you had."
In addition to an article 15, I wouls imagine the people he works with will make his life very....interesting, and not in a good way (can we say Barracks Party?).
It would not suprise me if he get's sent back to Germany and shortly there after he gets an administrative discharge, and becomes a HEro to the Code Pinkers.
It sounds like this individual has infiltrated the US Army in the same way that RATS have infiltrated the Republican party. Join up and cause mischief!
He’s not fit to clean lavatories at Walter Reed.
He should be made to clean & change beds, bed pans, sponge bath patients and assist in physical therapies, where necessary. He has maligned and sullied the names of our troops, of which he is one, and all so he could get a byline in a leftwing rag..............I do not fault TNR, they seem to have done at least a minimum of background as much as they could............
“...He should be made to clean & change beds, bed pans, sponge bath patients and assist in physical therapies, where necessary....”
Since this fellow is dishonest, he would probably just cause more trouble in this role. I think honest and dependable people should be tasked with caring for our wounded soldiers.
Professional Practice Pinata would be a good position for Beauchamp.
The Right should take a page from the Left’s playbook on this and mount a vocal demonstration at New Republic’s offices and not stop until they print either a retraction or apology. The Right must become activist or watch itself inserted into the dustbin of history.
Yah I know, conservatives are not complainers or vehicles for victime syndrome, but time to awaken to the realities of info warfare. This is the electronic communication era. You play to the cameras, you saturate YouTube and the blogosphere, you protest and you protest again. If you are hard at work 9-5, then your wives do it. Move it or lose it.

The main problem with replicating the tactics of the left is that conservatives have JOBS. Only the professionally disaffected can up and protest all day at a moments notice, while collecting welfare payments to subsidize their advocacy and/or criminal lifestyle.
“no evidence of criminal conduct...”Too bad.I’d consider it agit-prop.Providing support to the enemy. Then again i’m not a lawyer nor have i ever been in the military. However,if this guy were in my unit.........:(
