“Without steroids, his hand-eye coordination would have been no less exceptional. He’d have just hit fewer home runs and more base hits and pop flies.”
How do we know that? Maybe using steroids hurt his ability. Can anyone prove a difference?
Three starters for the Padres are on the injured list.
the Giles brothers and Milton Bradley.
Even with that, the Padres are playing better than most
teams.
Third straight walk for Bonds since hitting the HR.
On base 4 times tonight!!!Steroids did it!!!!
When is Adrian Gonzalez going to get hot again? I need better numbers on my fantasy team! He started out the year on fire but has really cooled off.
He will find his swing again

I think BB is a classless individual. I could care less about the roids, I just don’t like Barry Bonds.

If things go right, next up, A-Rod.
He went through an awful stretch but has shown signs of life lately. As their rbi guy, they need his bat. I agree he will be just fine, I have stuck with him this long so I am counting on it.
Me personally? I think professional athletes should all be required to take steroids. Or as I proposed on another thread, half should be required, and have should be forbidden, chosen by random lottery. It would make things more interesting. At the same time, as I suggested on another thread, I would expect that star performers vs. non-performers would be randomly distributed amongst both groups.
A Vonnegut fan?
That's interesting. I'm watching the game right now, and I saw a lot of people standing and applauding as he was replaced by the pinch runner. I'd say that the AP isn't reporting the whole story. Surprise!
Amen to that.
Thanks to Barry for being the most exciting player to watch for the past 20+ years. I hope he gets to 800.
Bond’s increase in HR’s also coincided with the move out of Candlestick and into Pac-Bell park. Candlestick was one of the worst parks for hitting HR’s. Pac-Bell was built for him. What is even more amazing is that throughout his career he has had very little help behind him, allowing teams to pitch around him most of the time. He also holds the record for most consecutive games with a home run, which was accomplished AFTER he was 40, and AFTER his alleged steroid use. Whether you like him or not he is one of the greatest to play the game. Congratulations, Barry.
!
People who bash Barry do so for many reasons, but not because he can go yard. Barrys been the target of criticism for years before this cloud of steroid abuse came up. No proof, mind you, just a cloud. But those who love to hate this man will use it to further that hate. Dispicable in my opinion.
I was wondering why people hated Barry Bonds until the year his team played the Angels in World Series. He gave some interview and complained it wasn't fair he wasn't going to be recognized as a great player because his team wouldn't win the World Series because the Angels' pitchers were intentionally walking him.
Since then I was (and still am) hoping a pitcher or two would make a statement by intentionally walking him when Bond is up at bat with the record on the line.
