SAN JOSE, Aug. 3, 2007 (KGO) - We're learning more about the terrorist accusations against a San Jose man. Police say he has ties to al Qaeda and that his brother is one of the FBI's most wanted terrorists.
Rahmat Abdhir has lived on Sunwood Drive in San Jose since 2003. The FBI raided his house yesterday.
Rahmat's younger brother is Zulkifli Abdhir, a fugitive terrorist living in the Philippines with an alleged leadership role in the al Qaeda affiliated terror group called Jemaah Islamiyah.
A 16-count indictment accuses the two men of working together to further terrorist acts. Rahmat's arrest has stunned his San Jose neighbors.
The indictment accuses Rahmat of funneling his brother more than $10,000 dollars in cash, dozens of two-way radios, ammunition and other equipment.
It lists 76 e-mails in the last year where the government says the two men used code words to carry out illegal activity.
The indictment concludes iron meant firearms, dogs refereed to government agents and prizes or presents were the code words for bombs or improvised explosive devices.
Jenny Martinez is a Stanford law professor who has argued before the Supreme Court in terrorism cases. She says the government is using its post 9/11 tools to thwart terrorism.
Jenny Martinez, Stanford Law School: "There have been a number of indictments brought under the materials support statue and this is one where they're saying this man in San Jose was proving material support to his brother who was a terrorist."
The indictment cites one e-mail just last month in which Zulkifli writes to Rahmat, "last night I taught a course on sniping. Discontinued today because troops heard and then came spy planes."
ABC News has learned Zulkifli also held a P.O. box at a Berryessa Post Office in San Jose for most of the 1990s.
Zulkifli has a five million dollar bounty on his head. For now, his brother is being held in Santa Clara County's main jail.
Rahmat Abdhir is scheduled to appear in federal district court on Tuesday. If convicted of all the charges against him, he faces more than 20 years in prison.
Obviously if The United States would just get out of San Jose, this guy wouldn't hate us so much.

Rahmat Abdhir, aka “Sean Kasem,” aka “Sean Kalimin,” age 43, is a U.S. citizen living in San Jose, Calif., and the brother of Zulkifli Abdhir. Rahmat Abdhir is charged in the indictment with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, providing material to terrorists, contributing goods and services to a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (his brother), and false statements. FBI agents arrested Rahmat Abdhir this morning outside his place of employment in Sunnyvale, Calif. He made his initial appearance today in federal court in San Jose.
Zulkifli Abdhir, aka “Zulkifli Bin Abdul Hir, aka “Hulagu,” aka “Marwan,” age 41, a fugitive believed to be in the Philippines, is charged in the indictment with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and providing material support to terrorists. In September 2003, the U.S. government designated Abdhir as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist pursuant to Executive Order 13224. In March 2007, the State Department added him to the most-wanted list of its Rewards for Justice program and authorized a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his arrest or conviction, noting that he was a member of the central command of Jemaah Islamiyah and was believed to be involved in multiple deadly bomb attacks in the Philippines.
Money, Radios and Other Equipment Sent from the U.S.
According to the indictment, Zulkifli Abdhir and Rahmat Abdhir communicated with one another between the United States and Philippines, often in code to disguise the nature of their activities, as Zulkifli Abdhir engaged in battles with Philippine troops and evaded capture. Among other things, they discussed items that Zulkifli Abdhir wanted his brother to send him in the Philippines from the United States, including money and accessories for firearms, Insignia two-way radios, backpacks, and knives.
According to the indictment, Rahmat Abdhir shipped requested items to his brother in the Philippines using various aliases for the sender and the recipient. Between June 2006 and June 2007, Rahmat Abdhir allegedly shipped nearly 30 hand-held or two-way radios, as well as Colt .45 magazines, binoculars, a rifle scope and firearms manual, flashlights, batteries, and camouflage clothing to his brother.
The indictment also alleges Zulkifli Abdhir routinely informed Rahmat Abdhir when he needed money sent or wired to the Philippines for purchases of items including firearms and ammunition. Rahmat Abdhir transferred the requested money to Zulkifli Abdhir through bank accounts that his brother provided in the Philippines, varying the times and amounts of money sent, and using false names and addresses. Between June 2006 and June 2007, Rahmat Abdhir allegedly sent more than $10,000 to his brother.
Zulkifli Abdhir kept his brother in the U.S. informed of his situation on the ground in the Philippines by providing reports of battles between Philippine troops and his protectors there, including elements of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). The MILF has waged a secessionist campaign in the Southern Philippines over approximately the last 30 years and has provided assistance to groups such as Al Qaeda’s regional affiliate Jemaah Islamiyah and the Abu Sayyaf group.
In one instance, Zulkifli Abdhir described an effort by Philippine government troops to capture him on Aug. 10, 2006 in which commandos surrounded his house and a gun battle ensued. Zulkifli Abdhir also described numerous battles and conflicts with Philippine government troops after a ceasefire between MILF and the Philippine government ended on Sept. 30, 2006. In turn, Rahmat Abdhir routinely kept his brother informed by providing news stories and Internet links that reported on the conflict in the Philippines and the fact that Zulkifli Abdhir was a wanted fugitive.
Zulkifli Abdhir is a U.S.-trained engineer accused of teaching bomb-making techniques to terrorists overseas. The Justice Department believes he is in the Philippines, engaged in running gun battles with troops and conducting a bombing campaign.[3]
The other lived quietly in San Jose, tapping away at a computer, Googling about faraway places and making a few visits to the bank. One brother, Zulkifli Abdhir, 41, remains a wanted terrorist flush with aliases and a $5 million bounty for his leadership in an al-Qaida-affiliated terror group called Jemaah Islamiyah.[4] Months later on January 10, 2007, three bombings took place in the same region that killed seven people and left more than 40 wounded. If captured and convicted Zulkifli Abdhir faces up to 30 years in prison, his brother, Rahmat faces up to 28 years.[5] Thursday night, his brother, Rahmat Abdhir, a U.S. citizen who lives near San Francisco, was accused of supporting terrorism by using the U.S. mail system to send cash, rifle scopes and two-way radios to the Philippines. The radios may have been used to help his brother make bombs, the government says.[3] The indictment also alleges that Rahmat Abdhir transferred money to the Philippines for purchases of items including firearms and ammunition. He sent more than 10,000 dollars between June 2006 and June 2007 to bank accounts his brother provided in the Philippines.[6]

I did a search for madrassas in America and clicked on the 1st link. There was a guy discussing some bible camp and he said...
[I kept saying to myself, “O.K., these are the Christian version of the Madrassas (those Islamic religious instructional schools in Pakistan and elsewhere, often financed by Saudi oil money)...so both sides are pretty much equally sick, there’s a balance.” (Although it must be said the Madrassas provide some regular education and literacy where no other option is available, they do community work that is non-religious...and they take in aimless troubled youth.)]
