Telluride impeachment vote reaps storm
Denver Post ^ | 07 aug 07 | Nancy Lofholm

Moonbats. Lunatics. Boobs. Bong smokers. Left-bots.

Those insults and more are being heaped on the populace of Telluride after the Telluride Town Council became the first in Colorado to vote for an ordinance to impeach President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

The council hasn't even approved the symbolic measure on second reading, but that hasn't slowed a furious flurry of e-mails to the town and its newspapers and the cancellation of Telluride vacations by those who have no desire to schuss through politically tinged powder or share high-altitude air with "loony liberals."

Colorado's ski resort towns are filled with lefty snobs with too much time on their hands. I do live in a southwestern mountain town in Colorado but I don't live in Vail, Aspen or Telluride - that have struck me as overpriced G'staard or Cortina d'Ampezzo wannabes.

Telluride is a fitting place to be first in the state It's an independent-minded historic-mining-town-turned-resort without a single Republican in office. Democrats, Libertarians and Green Party members fill every elected chair.

And Mexicans do all the dirty work...

I bet its the same in Vail and Aspen. All three places went big for Kerry in 2004. Coloradans had better horse sense and went for Bush that year.

The Colorado resort where we went for a ski weekend had an army of non-english speaking hispanics; it was obvious they were here illegally. I had a jacket that resembled something law enforcement would wear and when they saw me coming they would go WAYYYY out of their way to ditch me.

Leadville is an hour's drive away from Salida. Both places are inhabited by hard working blue collar and middle class folks. They're worlds away in mentality and income from the nouveau riche ski destinations that are world famous.

“And Mexicans do all the dirty work...”

And of course, can’t afford to live there. Nobody who actually works in any of those towns can afford to live in them.

One of the tragedies of the Western states is that rich “liberals” are buying all the land in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming and ruining it for normal folk. Scumbag traitors like Ted Turner and Robert Redford, et al.

A friend of mine lived in one of those resorts for a time and I remember when they got hit with a severe snow storm during the night and when they awoke the next morning, the people who made things ‘go’ weren’t there because they could not get to work because they could not afford to live anywhere near the resort. It would have made for a great movie.

Telluride is classic Liberal hypocrisy heaven.

It’s an unbelievably gorgeous place with phenominal skiing.

Unfortunatley, the big hearted libs have moved in with their trust funds, built massive carbon footprints and do everything possible to keep everyone else out.

We met a woman who moved there and became a cleaning lady (she had to quit her professional job because it didn’t pay enough to live there).

She told us it was a trade off she chose to make for living in such a beautiful place, even though the “ladies of the house” treated her like SH^&%.

I couldn't afford to live there. The scenery is gorgeous but I don't have the trust fund to move into one of the absurdly priced homes and I don't like being a snob. I am financially secure but I am NOT that rich.

Its funny how people think rich people are conservative. The reality in fact, is quite different from the notion people have in their heads about wealth and political party voting preference.

Most of the self-made wealthy are conservative; most of those who inherited wealth are liberal.

It’s nice to see people who oppose the measure speaking out. The elitists who hang out in Telluride won’t get the message.

The wife of an acquaintance just left her husband to go be one of Ted Turner’s mistresses. She knows she only gets a turn once every 3-5 weeks. But that’s OK with her.

There are at least two ways to interpret this phrase.

Your story cracked me up. I had two small antique chauffeur badges that I used to wear on my coat collar. A pan-handler came up to me in Harvard Square, took one look at the badges, and immediately spun around away from me. LOL

Unfortunatley, the big hearted libs have moved in with their trust funds, built massive carbon footprints and do everything possible to keep everyone else out.

The rich move in, build their mansions, then immediately set about keeping everyone else out. They move from developer to conservationist as soon as they get theirs. See: Aspen, Vail, Ketchum, Sundance etc etc....

Leadville has its fair share of folks doing the work Americans wont do. But the Americans there are not goof balls like in Breck, Aspen, Vail, etc.

My daughter looked into working there. As part of the application for the resort, you have to write an essay detailing what you have done to save the planet. It's pretty much a religious test.

We thought up some pretty funny essays, but in the end, she declined to apply.

The scenery is gorgeous as it is all the mountainous areas such as Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, etc. and then come east to West Virginia, the Smokies and on to the North. This country is not in short supply of gorgeous scenery!!

Take a trip - you’ll love it!

If Karl Rowe was truely evil he would arrange to federal inspectors to close a bridge or two on the routes into Telluride and have the FAA find some problem with the airport and then the town would find a lot of people wouldn’t want to visit if the highway detour means a long bumpy roundabout drive and they couldn’t fly their private jets in.
