A picture is worth a thousand words....I love the non-destructive way some opposed to this statue decided to show their dissatisfaction. If only others could take a lesson from this creative protest. :-)

reminds me of Gallagher’s description of California as being the ‘Granola state’:

“What ain’t fruits and nuts is flakes.”

Well let’s see. San Diego has an official month celebrating homosexuality and currently has a lawsuit against it by firefighters forced to attend a gay “pride” parade.

Is this a shock?

There are a lot of all 3, but don’t lose sight of the 44% of us here who also live here (based on statewide GOP vote in 2004).

They should have put some boxing gloves on it too- it’d look like StrongBad in a dress.

the 120K came from the botanical society, but they are a non-profit, so maybe that does come down to common denominator, taxpayer.

Amazing isn’t it? Some sculptor is fat and happy.

I wish that just once a town would hold a contest to see which artist would be chosen for the honor of having his work displayed for the public. No pay, just the bragging rights and whatever else may come of having been selected. We put up with the same waste of money in Oakland(where there is no money for childrens' schools) and the art generally sucks!

I think they should bite the bullet, and donate it to the San Francisco surfing community.

Or maybe Seattle. "It" would look lovely next to Lenin.

Better yet, P-town, MA.

Lightbulb! I know just the place:

Outside of Burlington, VT along I-89N
