UNITED NATIONS, Aug. 7 -- The United Nations has offered to bolster its presence in Baghdad for the first time in more than three years, laying the groundwork for a more ambitious role in mediating the country's sectarian disputes.
The move comes three weeks after President Bush delivered his second personal appeal to Secretary General Ban Ki Moon to help resolve some of Iraq's intractable religious and ethnic conflicts. The top U.N. political adviser, B. Lynn Pascoe, told the Security Council Tuesday that the United Nations would be prepared to increase the size of its mission in Baghdad by nearly 50 percent, raising the ceiling from 65 to as many as 95 international staffers in the coming months.

No. We don’t need more enemies there.
The last time that happened, the UN thieves looted Iraq for $$$. They are parasites.
The UN must have heard of all the money gone missing and want their share.
Now that things seem to be going in the right direction the last thing in the world we need in Iraq is the presence of the f-ing U.N.
Ohhhhh, zee Americans have won the war. Now we can safely come in and rape the women and plunder the country. Woo!
all true. I almost wish we would keep telling the world Iraq is going to hell in a hand basket, just to keep the UN out.
Since they lost out on the oil for food program, you know they got to find a way to replenish that income.
So they can go dig up the rest of the OFF money?
Wow, the UN presence may increase to 95 people total! that will solve everything.
How would you like to take that job?
Thye may be worthless but it will leave the surrendercrats with some ‘splaining to do. “Why are you saying we should abandon Iraq while the U.N. is there?”
Yea, this has to be bad news for the rats.
Is the UN a criminal organization?
I give ‘em two minutes in downtown Baghdad — they’ll surrender.
That’s a sure sign things have taken a positive turn in Iraq, they wouldn’t go in if they thought they would get their butts shot off.
Every little piss ant country has the same pull as does the U.S. or say Japan in the U.N.
So say the economic and political powerhouse of Madagascar is equal to the U.S.?
Get real man.
What a crock of b.s.
Disband the socialist U.N. and get it the hell out of the U.S.
Unfortunately, if you read Ban’s resume, you would have noticed that he got into politics because of his meeting with John F. Kennedy in the 60s. Ban’s been friendly to the US but so was Kofi Annan, the thief.
The thing that sucks is that the UN smells money or something and they want to make sure they have their slice of the pie. But the problem is, what did the UN invest in the removal of Hussein? Therefore, the UN’s return should be the same.
I want to press that we need to keep reminding each other and the world that it is the U.N.O. The ‘O’ stands for organization. It is nothing but an organization. It wants the status of a government. We should neither allow it such status, nor should we speak, write or abbreviate or use accronyms that suggest it has the status of government. It The U.S.A is the United States of America.
It is not the “U.N.” — it is the U.N.O.
Where is Scary Reid's justification now? I promise you that the UN would not be moving back in unless it was safe for them. Also, the UN would not be coming back if Scary Reid had his way.
Under Reid, the US would have pulled out by now. This would have left a power vacuum. You want to see what can happen in a power vacuum? All you have to do is look at what happened in Afghanistan after the Russians pulled out. Tribal leaders rose up against each other. The Mujahadeen split up. Out of the break up the Taliban was created. The Taliban took power and control over the Tribal Leaders and other parts of Afghanistan. And as you know, the Taliban harbored al qeada who attacked us on 911.
Does Scary Reid think something different will happen in Iraq, if we pull out?
I think Scary Reid is a threat to our National Security. I think the UN is too. We should Ban them both.
Good points and duly noted.
