TWIN FALLS, IDAHO
As 7 p.m. approaches, the high-desert sunlight lingers with a golden hue and 80 degree warmth, favoring the people who pull their vehicles into the downtown lot by the Lamphouse Theater. Disembarking and filing into the movie theater, they appear to be a Western cross-section: carefully stepping gray-haired ladies, a guy in an electric wheelchair, a few sweet little girls, the vice mayor, a toddler clinging to a mothers shoulder, two doctors, and the inevitable guy wearing camo pants.
Collectively, they would seem to have little to worry about. All around them on this mid-June evening, Twin Falls prospers, grown up recently into a livable small city of 40,000 residents, complete with branches of Old Navy and New York Burrito and Cold Stone Creamery, nestled in productive farmland and authentic sagebrush. Sprinklers green the crops at citys edge, emitting a comforting hiss that is music to desert dwellers.

Guns R Us: Is it time to re-examine the Wests extraordinary fascination with firearms?
Rather, is it time to re-examine the Left’s extraordinary hatred of firearms, and the liberties they protect?
Sorry for not posting a Barf Alert...
No examination necessary. The criminals have them, we need them. A new ‘vomit’ causing flashlight is not enough (flashlight is to be available soon to military, border patrol, and policemen). These will have to choose between drawing a flashlight or a gun..could prove fatal to them if the wrong tool is chosen. If I had to choose between a gun and a technologically wonderful flashlight, I would pick the gun. I hope the military, the border patrol and policemen are not just issued ‘magic’ flashlights.
Guns R Us: It is Time to Re-examine the West's Extrordinary Right for Citizens to Defend Themselves
You can leave a comment on the article. I did.
Ray Ring. Sounds like a gay porno actor.
New York Burrito? Does such a thing exist?
And last but not least, re-examine how they write stupid op-eds that start off with visions of happy go lucky sweet little girls socializing with vice mayors on perfect days where everyone has nothing better to do but gather at the local movie theatre and watch a western featuring two fags "finding each other" while camping in a tent one night...
Barf.
Don’t think I’ll be donating to HCN anytime soon.
Does this idiot get paid by the word???

How about a gun with a vomit causing lazer sight? :o)
Of, for crying out loud.
The author of this swill is all for the incremental stripping of a constitutionally protected right. There was a reason the Founders insisted on the 2nd Amendment, because they knew there would be grabbers like the author who would seek to disarm the American people, and put them at the mercy of thuggish predators and/or a thuggish government. As for crimes committed with guns (or knives, or baseball bats, or rolling pins, or rocks, or shoes...), the grabbers always seek to blame the inanimate object (as if those objects had the mindset and the will and the ability to act on their own) rather than the human behind it. Let’s face it: Gun control has nothing to do with protecting the people; but it has everything to do with rendering the people defenseless, and thus dependent upon, or at the mercy of those who DO have guns (i.e., the controlling power or authority).
A disarmed person is no longer a citizen, but is — at best — a subject; but, more likely, he is a slave.
Ray Ring is a sorry leftie nitwit, who ought to mind his own business.
To George Bush I say, get control of your ATF!
I’ll be back. I’m goin’ shootin’!
Yes, by all means, let’s reexamine them. I rarely need an excuse to get them all out and clean, polish, and examine my firearms.
Owning them wouldn’t be nearly as much fun if I couldn’t examine them!
I am not and will not be a subject or a slave. I am and will remain and will die a free man. That’s a fact.
bump for later
Yes, I did re-examine my extraordinary fascination with firearms. My conclusion? I need more guns. LOTS more guns.
Mark
this must coincide with the USSC supreme court case and the PRESS release the DC’s law firm released promoting themselves for using a constitutional database.
The MSM is trying to poison the jury pool so to speak. (ala the USSC law clerks and judges.)
It is VERY hard to have any faith in the law clerks of the USSC.

Did the web editor accept and publish your comment? I left one as well.
Mr. Ring, my right to personal self-defense is not negotiable. It is not subject to "re-examination," looking at from another angle, reconsideration, modification, or "sensible" restriction based on false premises and false promises of safety by a government that cannot or will not provide it.
The notion that "no one is talking about confiscation of firearms" is a lie. Examine the Violence Policy Center's charter for proof to the contrary. The notion that Westerners are pathologically fond of firearms is nothing but sneering condescension on the part of those too lazy to learn the contrary, and I am disappointed to read it in your column. You know better, or you ought to.
The right to keep and bear arms is a civil right. "Freedom from fear" on the part of hyperemotional gun control drama queens is not. It really is that simple.
We'll see if they print it as well.
I think it is also interesting that they haven’t noticed that it ISN’T the West that shoots AK-47s in the air at weddings and other parties. They are choosing to overlook the relative “mental health” between Mideastern cultures and ours.
But, It's a society of slavery for your own good. Live how the master says, eat what the master allows, entertain yourselves with what the master provides and allows, and live in hte shack the master provides.
Then go to work and give the master most of your wages. It's for your own good.
If you speak against the master's vision, you will be punished.
That is the America Democrats/liberals/ leftist moonbats or whatever you want to call them envision.
That's the life of slavery my grandparents and great grandparents fled from in the days what Democrats today call "days of glory", when the soviet union established "the perfect world" throughout eastern Europe, and has leftist moonbats salvatating for today. Sure there were a few glitches, nothing the mass muder of tens of millions of people and children couldn't fix.
I think you and me got a business.
When the 12 year olds and up in the Middle East and elswhere chuck their fascination with draping AK-47s around their shoulders, we might just give it a thought or two.
There is no shortage of journalist clowns on the horizon that keep us amused, is there?

Everyone needs to get a gun or two and a case of ammunition in a cash-only, undocumented, private-party sale while they still can. Cosmoline the lot, and bury it, until the dawn of the happy day when the usurpers of our Constitution will be reckoned with once and for all. Your grandchildren will thank you.
Just a thought since the Second Amendment seems to be of intense interest to those of us who own fireamrs.
Just my $.02.

Twin Falls crime stats. I guess every two plus years one can get to love the property crimes. I guess this is great?

When it gets to the point where you have to bury your guns, that is the point where you must be ready to use them.
Save money and buy reloading equipment. Plus you’ll be able to get the most out of your guns and improve your accuracy with ammo that will have more precise loads.
Remember to keep your powders dry. It may have to last a long long time.
The fear and dissection of the Bill of Rights continues.
Licensing a keyboard as heavily as a gun might get the attention of these ‘pick and choosers’.
Right. The west has a problem. Unlike Africa, for example?

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.
Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants;
they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one.
- Thomas Jefferson quoting Cesare Beccaria, Criminologist 1764.
A strong body makes the mind strong.
As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun.
While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind.
Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind.
Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks.
- Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to his nephew
