HAWR RAJAB - Coalition Forces destroyed a suspected improvised explosive device factory in Hawr Ratab, south of Baghdad, Aug. 9.
Paratroopers of Troop C, 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, made the discovery while conducting searches of two buildings in the area. The search was based on intelligence from a suspected insurgent detained the day before.
The searches uncovered about 1,000 pounds of white powder in bags, a blue barrel full of the white powder, pressure plate initiators and switches.
All of these materials are known components of homemade explosives used to construct IEDs that target Coalition Forces and Iraqi civilians.
After finishing the search Paratroopers called in an air weapons team to destroy the buildings.
Samples of the powder and pressure plate equipment were returned to Forward Operating Base Falcon for analysis.
The 1-40th Cav. is currently attached to 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division.
Disclaimer; No offense meant to our muslim friends.
Probably straight from IRAN...President Bush warned Iran yesterday in his presser...
Thanks! Great news!
Murtha, Pelosi, Ted Kennedy’s staff and the DNC aren’t going to be happy about this. No wonder they want to cut off funding for the troops and cut and run.
Some of these bastards are useful alive rather than dead.
Liberal whining about the “torture” of this observant Muslim to commence in 5, 4, 3....
But only for a short while.
Hint, hint to whomever is in charge of that sort of stuff over there.
Any of our resident experts know what this “white powder” might be?
Maybe the point of naming it only “white powder” was in keeping it a secret (as far as possible)?
"Look ... Achmed ... we believe you ... but I need your help ... I have this welding job, see ... and I need someone to hold the two pieces together ... Noooo ... it's OK ... trust me."
I’m a little surprised we didn’t stake the place out and kill insurgents one by one as they went to the buildings. Or better yet, follow them on their way out so they could lead us to more insurgents.
Not me,I worked on a golf course.
