Rudy Recants One 9/11 lie -- Five More To Go
Village Voice ^ | 08/10/2007 | Michael Clancy

Posted on 08/10/2007 5:51:42 PM PDT by Responsibility2nd

When the heat got to be too much on Friday, Rudy Giuliani backpedaled from the claim that he was at Ground Zero as much, if not more, than the 9/11 rescue and recovery workers.

"I think I could have said it better," he told nationally syndicated radio host Mike Gallagher, the Associated Press reported on Friday. "You know, what I was saying was, 'I'm there with you.'"

This is what Rudy in to trouble on the campaign trail in Cincinnati in the first place:

"This is not a mayor or a governor or a president who's sitting in an ivory tower," he said. "I was at ground zero as often, if not more, than most of the workers. ... I was there working with them. I was exposed to exactly the same things they were exposed to. So in that sense, I'm one of them."

But what about the rest of the falsehoods and hyperbole that comprise the foundation of Giuliani's candidacy? The Voice's Wayne Barrett took a look at those claims this week in article that The New Republic says "absolutely devastates Rudy Giuliani's claims about fighting terrorism."

The New Republic's Jonathan Chait goes on to say "I'm shocked this article has not received more attention. Using deep reporting, it simply takes Giuliani's claims apart piece by piece. If the facts in this article were absorbed by the public, or even campaign journalists, Giuliani's presidential campaign would be over."

Some Republicans are enamored of Rudy, they simply don’t know the man yet. The closer you were to the WTC, the more you despise the man.

A-OK?

What is A-OK about his pro-gay agenda? Or his pro-abortion agenda?

What is A-OK with his falied marriages and his alienated children?

Gun control policies. What is A-OK with that?

Cross dressing, ashamed of his religion, etc. and etc. I could go on and on but I fail to see how these things are A-OK.

What is A-OK about his pro-gay agenda? I lived in NY. I guess you don’t. Half of NY is gay, and Rudy favors the same kind of civil union Bush favors.

Or his pro-abortion agenda? Ronald Reagan signed the first abortion law in California. Rudy is no different on the issue than Bush.

What is A-OK with his falied marriages and his alienated children? I didn’t vote for Reagan because of his divorce or alienated children.

Gun control policies. What is A-OK with that? He ran NY. I don’t think he wants to take away guns.

Cross dressing, ashamed of his religion, etc. and etc. HE WAS AT A COSTUME PARTY! That isn’t a “reason”. He and Trump were joking around. Gore once dressed as Frankenstein...

I could go on and on but I fail to see how these things are A-OK. Your arguments are lame, and sound a lot like one of the Village Voice People...

Sucks for you to live in New York.

BS. Reagan changed his views on abortion. Rudy is still pro-abortion

What is A-OK with his falied marriages and his alienated children? I didn’t vote for Reagan because of his divorce or alienated children.
So who did you vote for? Tank Boy?

So it this guy the front-runner for the GOP nod? Let’s see — dishonest, immoral, anti-Constitution, pro-illegal alien...yep, sounds like a garden variety GOP lawmaker to me.

Rudy is a damn distraction, nothing more. Hey everyone, look at this car accident... while the real (i.e. Non McCain) candidates jockey for position out of the spotlight.

Rudy was a good man in a crisis. Is he Presidential material? I don’t know. I bought into the Bush Presidency — and now I am so disgusted. I am *seriously* considering sitting out the election. I personally cannot see one benefit from elections. The will of the people appears to be continually trumped with Imperial aspirations.

Sorry I cannot reply to all your BS, as just one instance is definitely in error. " Or his pro-abortion agenda?" 1. He has no "agenda" for abortion. 2. He has a "personal opinion that is not what will govern his appointments to the Supreme Court - which decides. If it isn't the Supreme Court, then Bush should have ended abortion, and 3. In NYC Abortion declined while he was mayor. More than we can say about Bush or whoever it is you think is a saint.

Abortion declined at a SLOWER rate in NY than the rest of the country.

He supports taxpayer funded abortions. That’s a HUGE agenda.

If he doesn’t use his personal beliefs to guide him when making decisions, what exactly does he use?

What do they have to do with Giuliani’s choices?

Half of NY is gay, and Rudy favors the same kind of civil union Bush favors.

Rudy has marched in gay pride parades. He has fought for benefits for homosexuals as well.

Ronald Reagan signed the first abortion law in California.

He regretted it when liberals exploited a loophole in the law.

Rudy is no different on the issue than Bush.

Rudy supports both partial-birth abortion & taxpayer funding of it. He also gave a speech to NARAL. There is no comparison between him and Bush on the issue.

I didn’t vote for Reagan because of his divorce or alienated children.

Reagan never cheated on Nancy or his first wife.

I don’t think he wants to take away guns.

Dude, are you kidding me? Rudy addressed Handgun Control (with Schumer in the background) and he tried to sue gun manufacturers.

Cross dressing, ashamed of his religion, etc. and etc. HE WAS AT A COSTUME PARTY! That isn’t a “reason”. He and Trump were joking around. Gore once dressed as Frankenstein...

Rudy lived with a gay couple and cross-dressed at least a half-dozen times. It's obvious that he enjoys wearing women's clothing.

I could go on and on but I fail to see how these things are A-OK. Your arguments are lame, and sound a lot like one of the Village Voice People...

There's a link at the top of the news page called the Giuliani truth file. Perhaps you should read it, before the kitties arrive.

Thanks for the ping. I saw this thread yesterday, as I was doing some detective work on FReeper Saint Louis. This isn't his first such post as a shill for Rooty. Check out Saint Louis on this thread, Giuliani Does Abortion-Adoption Dance for GOP Voters.

Half? Last year it was estimated at 10%.
When did those few million residents declare they were gay?
Or did a few million gays move to NY when I wasn't looking?
