Thank you, Sir. I’m glad that UK has stuck by the US. I love visiting your wonderful country.

No need for rudeness. It just shows that you can’t answer my points. Why don’t you enlist in the brave US unit that was too scared to carry out convoy duty in Iraq?
Oh, and by the way you have lost: The War of 1812 and Vietnam. You also pulled out of Somalia and Beirut. You didn’t win these ‘school-yard’ fights did you?
We didn’t have to help the US out in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we chose to.
To anyone else reading this: I have nothing but respect for the US and its military.
While I agree with your second statement, the first isn’t mine.

What possible reason is there for your rudeness? I have been nothing but civil in our discussion. Without Britain the US would never have existed in the first place. Maybe you should add that to your equation.
There are many articles in the press regarding US withdrawal from Iraq. As I said earlier the Iraq War is more politically divisive in the US than in the UK.
To use your phrasing then: “If [America] wants to abandon it’s mission in Iraq then get the hell out, shut up and go to hell’.
Don’t judge the UK without looking at your own country.
|
Note the headlines that I posted about the US apparently having been ‘defeated’ in Anbar province in 2006 and preparing for a bloody withdrawal from Iraq. Do you believe everything in the media?
“In the end, no matter how long we or the British stay, I am convinced that the Iraqis will screw this up hugely. They are hellbent on tribal savagery and a thousand years of Western guidance, training, blood and treasure cant change it because the Death Cult of Islam trumps absolutely everything.”
Amen. Nation building was then and is now an idiotic idea and shame on Bush for attempting such nonsense in that sinkhole of a “country.”

The UK hasn’t abandoned its mission in Iraq and will likely leave when the US does (which may be quite soon given the extent of unrest in Congress etc about the war).
By the way, when US forces had to take Fallujah, UK troops moved North to help out with US responsibilities. In Bosnia, many US troops (who I have nothing but respect for) didn’t venture out of base much because of US governmental fears. UK troops did.
I have provided facts to support my view point. You have not. If anyone is living in a world of bravado and denial then it is you. You seem to think that the US is some global empire, playing with its allies as it pleases.
Oh and by the way. Muslims in the UK likely form a lower proportion of the population than in the US. Furthermore, in the UK, we don’t offer services in two languages like you do in the US because of the numbers of immigrants coming over the border from Mexico. Perhaps I should call you Jose?
Unfortunately this site doesn’t have a bozo filter
but the poster provides the next best thing by formating his drivel in boxes.
If you see a box just pass it by unread.
Cheers for the back-up :-)I see you’re Canadian mate. I’ve read in the press that your troops are doing great work in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, some on these boards don’t seem to realise that US allies are sacrificing alot in the War on Terror.
At worst, for the U.S., the war was a draw.

Sorry, you’re right mate I should have clarified that statement. It was more an ambiguous outcome as you say. I was mainly referring to the US effort against Canada that was repulsed and the mainly successful movement of British forces inside the US (with the exceptions of New Orleans and that action that inspired your national anthem at the place I unfortunately I can’t remember :-)).
You are right though in that the war ended UK press-ganging of US sailors. In that respect it was more like a draw
Well, I also believe that the US is a force for freedom. However, you referring to the UK as ‘little England’ etc was not the language of friendship in freedom, but imperial arrogance.
Secondly, I haven’t whinged about anything. Please provide me with evidence of me doing this? I’ve successfully addressed all of your points with evidence and polite argument. All you have done is lob baseless insults and slander at the UK, depite me showing that the article we are discussing is pure speculation of the sort that also states the the US is about to pull out of Iraq.
‘Good show’ on your rudeness and lack of any valid points mate.
None taken mate. You raised a very valid point :-)
What worries me is your safety. I am reading over and over again (in British newspapers), that British troops have very poor equipment. If that’s so, I would much rather see you leave than needlessly risk lives.
One other thing Barry, have you ever gone on British sites and read what is said about American troops? It would curl your hair, and this is mild by comparison. As stupid as you very superior Brits think Americans are, we can read.
