Baghdad, Aug 12, (VOI)- Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki called on Sunday for a summit meeting by political leaders during the two upcoming days.

"The internal political problems the country is suffering from, have forced me to make a call for the Iraqi political leaders to meet in a summit during the next two days," Maliki told a news conference in Baghdad.

The Prime Minister added "the aim behind the summit is to address basic topics arisen in the Iraqi political arena as well as considering the political program and the strategic problems facing the government."

"The meeting is to address the political program agreed upon when the current government was formed and ways to implement it. Demands submitted by individual blocs will be discussed as allowed by the constitution," Maliki told reporters concerning the topics on the meeting agenda.

The Iraqi Prime Minister who expected a number of decisions out of the summit including naming substitute ministers to replace the Sadrists who quit from the cabinet said "we will not stop at discussing the demands by the blocs; rather we will consider the commitments they have to honor as well."

Well, since his shipment of AK-57’s got stopped in Italy, I’m betting he does suddenly want to talk.

And, my bad... was AK-47’s. But, still, a boatload of arms to be shipped via mafia to the “Iraqi Government”.

Translation: General Petraeus is disrupting the plans of the majority Shia factions, al Sadr, and their Iranian puppet-masters to more-or-less behave till the Americans leave then take over.

Sure appears Maliki and his masters in the background whoever they may turn out to be are getting a bit nervous.
Things are not looking up from the IG standpoint.
Somehow some key individuals are going to have to surface such as the USA had during those tender years as a budding democracy to step forth and get the ball rolling.
It appears from one article I read (referenced by I think Ernest recently, that even Jafarri is thinking about attempting to regain the PM spot.
Allawi according to their constitution cannot run, because he is an ex Baathist. Who is going to step forward that could champion the philosophy of a united secular Iraq as being their only real hope over the long run.
Of course many Arab Shia in their ignorance will find out to late that Iranians are not their friends by a long shot, and only want to take over Iraq and dominate it.
To many dopes roaming the city betweeen the rivers. Meanwhile Hakim stays low as well as the fat boy taking off for the Persian capital once again.
With that being said. Do have a great upcoming day. I gotta hit the rack.

And the cabinet is mostly Shia. But we have a few firebrands from the Sunni tribes and from the Kurds.

I think Maliki will be lucky to be alive in a months time. Either the Sadrists, the Iranians , or the Kurds.

Or he will simply head for Tehran and his mullah pupeteers, with whom he met last week, and likely arranged for sanctuary.

Clearly our president is pretty much fed up with him, and the thumbs down has been likely given.

Thanks for the article and link. Maliki's days are numbered if he decides to govern without the opposition parties.

My bet is that he has a plane on stand by , all loaded with his personal goodies, ready to high tail it to Iran.

I bet most of his family is already in Iran. Is there a way to check?

I do not trust this man...

Neither do most of the Iraqis.

He's in bed with Iran...always has been.

He has a hissy-fit every time our troops go into Sadr City and clean out the trash.

They just ignore him now.
