Pols are tiptoeing around killing fields
NYDailyNews.com ^ | August 13, 2007 | Stanley Crouch

Posted on 08/13/2007 5:19:28 AM PDT by Puzzleman

We have now developed an urban badlands which is national and troubling because of the incredible numbers of people who are murdered or suffer the physical and psychological effects of violent crime. Our presidential candidates are quick on the draw when asked about the war on terror or homeland security, but the American people have not heard a peep from them about the concrete killing fields of our cities.

Well, we can have a "surge" in the inner cities. But the usual suspects aren't going to like who ends up on the wrong end of most of the bullets.

As long as the liberal attitude currently predominant in government and media endures - that overlooking criminal activity by young urban black males is a suitable remedy for past discrimination - this problem is not solvable.

My husband and I watched the History Channel yesterday - too hot to do anything else! Anyway, one show was on the diamond trade and the other was on Osama bin Laden. All of the third world countries had three things in common: no matter how much money the government had, there was no provision for education, no provision for maintaining the infrastructure and law enforcement that was either nonexistent or corrupt. Sound familiar to anyone?

The 2008 election should be about security issues only.

The War On Terror
The War in Iraq
Border Security
Gang Eradication
Urban Crime

We can’t deal with any of the political issues until the security situation has been resolved...

Wait a minute, where have I heard that one before?

This can't be part of any presidential debate. The media won't allow it. The Democrats won't allow it. A Republican would have to be a complete idiot to raise it.

This is a situation of blacks killing blacks, in black neighborhoods, in black cities, with black mayors, black police chiefs and black school superintendants.

And the only way that the problem can be stated is: "It's whitey's fault". And you will be pilloried if you state the problem in any other way.

So who's gonna sign up for that debate??

What Urban Crime ?

Democrats passed Midnight Basketball back when Clinton was president and Louie Farrakan had his Million Man March

Didn’t that solve the problem ????????????

Right on!!!! And, in 2002, we had the most blatent attempt to overthrow a legal US election since Chicago Mayor Daly found enough dead bodies to swing the vote in favor of Kennedy over Nixon in 1961. But isn’t reducing the US to a third world non entity exactly with the Demcraps want?

Damn right. A hurricane hit New Orleans, and the message went out "George Bush hates black people".

If a Republican were to say that urban crime is based on sociological factors stemming from the behavior of people living in urban areas, and that cultural changes need to be made in order to tone down the violence -- talk like that would be trumpeted as "The Klan Reborn".

I'll wait for the Democrats to clean up the cities. I moved out 10 years ago, and nowadays I don't even visit. It's not my problem.

This is the biggest crock of BS! If murders take place in cities, they are invariably due to drugs, immigrants and poverty due to unemployment. The reason there is unemployment in such a robust economy is simply lack of initiative.

High school dropouts will be underemployed. Period.

Don't expect it to be fixed anytime soon then.

And it IS your problem as much as anyone's (I too live in a rural area.) Those folks escaping the urban areas move to the suburbs or rural areas and bring the problems with them. Now it's your problem too. Welcome.

Until law enforcement gets the support of the black and Hispanic communities this disgusting scenario will continue. These communities have decided that it is more likely that their offspring will be perpetrators than victims. Of course, liberals nourish this perverse insanity. OJ, call your office.

It is starting to be a bad problem in Arkansas. We have had the largest increase in the number of illegal criminal invaders of any state. I live about a quarter mile from a small lake that is being overrun by illegals. Thank you very much ex-minister, ex-governor, and hopefully ex-presidential candidate Huckabee.

Killing fields? But but but.. all those anti-gun laws that were passed and "gun free zones" made it safer, didn't they??

Maybe they need more laws. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Unless and until people are allowed to defend themselves against predators of any stripe without recrimination, this will only get worse.

“What people look around their neighborhood and think the country needs to wake up? How about local control?”

Local control caused the problems to start with. Every big city is run by RATS or liberal RINO’s.

I vote that the FED’s end every dime of support for cities and force them to pay for the problems they created and control.

The answer is gun control well actually, trigger control, the residents of these high crime areas need to be granted concealed carry, get some training in trigger control so they can plug 3 or 4 .45’s into the gangsta’s center of mass each time they see a violent crime.

Nope. Can't do that, it makes too much sense. I never leave home without my two S & W 38's {for which I have a CCW}. When I enter a mall, I have the "snubby" tucked in a pocket. You never know when you'll need protection, and it better not be in the glove box in your car.

I agree with your second paint. Revenue sharing has made our cities basket cases. They asked for it, to be sure, but it has been a disaster otherwise known as the black community.

My plank on this:

Immediately suspend posse comitatus, send in the marines into the inner city neighborhoods, and clean out the nests. By and large enforcement knows who these worms are, just need to let them go get them.

I am sick of seeing a few hundred animals holding thousands of decent folks hostage.

Not exactly right. A hurricane MISSED New Orleans.
Katrina was only a Category 3 Hurricane when it MISSED New Orleans - so NO only felt the effects of say a CAT 2 storm. Still, it shows how the Democrats ran that whole mess.

Urban crime is not a matter for the Federal government. Thankfully, the president is not “Commander in Chief” of police forces across America. Sending troops is NOT the answer.

Civilization is in retreat in many places around the globe. The collapse of American civilization began in our inner cities and appears to be spreading inexorably outwards.

The brutality and crime stem from a cultural shortfall, indeed failing, in our urban areas. No president can bring a social revival and yet that is exactly what is needed in order to turn things around (if that is even possible).

How dare you choose to live in a safe place? It's not fair! Even the British are beginning to assess taxes against people who live in safe neighborhoods. The liberal approach in the USA is to build low income housing in the middle of a nice, high end neighborhood. Just to make it fair. Fill it with drug addled criminals so those high and mighty folks in the nice house get to see how the other half lives. Bring in a few burglars, rapists and pedophiles just for good measure.
