Shooting Massacre In German Town

Six people have been shot dead in a west German town - all of them suffered bullet wounds to the head.



Duisburg in western Germany

Five bodies were found in two cars near the train station in Duisburg and a sixth person died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.

Police spokesman Hermann-Josef Helmich said police do not yet know who could have committed the killings or what the motive might have been.

"A witness heard the shots and stopped a police patrol car which was incidentally driving nearby," said another police spokesman, Reinhard Pape.

The bodies were discovered around 2.30am local time and all victims were between 20 and 30 years old, Mr Pape said.

He said one of the cars was a small van registered in Duisburg while the other one was a white Volkswagen from Pforzheim in south west Germany.

Police started investigating at the crime scene but work was hindered by heavy rain, he said.

That's what I have heard. A friend in West Germany has told me the same thing, that there are very strict gun control laws there. I'm not sure that I understand what you mean by your countdown, but this shooting is very strange.

Police found the six in, or lying next to, two cars not far from the city's train station after a passer-by heard shots at about 2:30 a.m. (1:30 a.m. British time) and alerted them.

A police patrol found the bodies of five men as well as a sixth man who was critically wounded and died as he was taken to hospital around 2:30 am (0030 GMT).

Police later said the six were all Italian.

No criticism from me, Rummenigge. The gun laws in Germany are failing because only criminals have guns. That is a situation which German citizens can resolve by getting the laws changed.

I hope that the German police get this case solved and the criminals arrested very quickly.

When police arrived on the Duisburg scene today, they found the six men riddled with bullets in two vehicles parked alongside each other in the entrance to a parking lot. Shots were fired through the windshields of a black Volkswagen Golf registered in the German town of Pforzheim, and a white Opel minivan from Duisburg

The men had attended the birthday party of one of the victims, identified as Tomaso-Franceso V., 18, from Muelheim, in the nearby Da Bruno pizzeria. All six of the men had either worked at or owned the restaurant.

Two victims were from Duisburg, two from neighboring Muelheim and the others had recently traveled to Germany. Some of the men were involved in money counterfeiting, according to Sprenger. “

I just got back from a month in Munich for medical treatment.Interesting place.
NO racial tension as far as I could see.Quite a few black Africans and fair numbers of Arabs and Turks.No gun crime whatsoever which is why this shooting is an anomaly.
Many more people ride bikes to work and school.Paradoxically,there are way more smokers and heavy drinkers than in the States.
