From Little ACORNS...Democrats Grow
The New Media Journal ^ | August 16, 2007 | Paul R. Hollrah

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has its roots in a coalition of welfare rights organizations which, since 1970, has fought for “social and economic justice” – in this, the land of social and economic freedom. The coalition experienced serious internal stresses when it was joined by organizations such as the Vietnam Veterans Organizing Committee (VVOC) and the Unemployed Workers Organizing Committee (UWOC), presumably a group that would punish the rest of us by...what?...refusing to accept their unemployment checks?

ACORN claims to represent more than 350,000 member families and 850 neighborhood chapters in 100 cities across the US, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, and the Dominican Republic, and they credit themselves with successful campaigns for better housing, healthcare, schools, job conditions, etc. Their members participate in local meetings, work on campaigns, and pay the organization’s expenses through membership dues and grassroots fundraisers.”

That is the public face of ACORN and it all sounds quite benign...until we take a much closer look at the role they play in helping organized labor swell the ranks of uninformed, disinterested, but obedient Democrat voters. For example, just what are those “grassroots fundraisers” that ACORN relies on to pay their neighborhood “activists?”

My file:

If you thought the New Left was dead in America, think again. Walk through just about any of the nation’s inner cities, and you’re likely to find an office of ACORN, bustling with young people working 12-hour days to “organize the poor” and bring about “social change.” The largest radical group in the country, ACORN has 120,000 dues-paying members, chapters in 700 poor neighborhoods in 50 cities, and 30 years’ experience. It boasts two radio stations, a housing corporation, a law office, and affiliate relationships with a host of trade-union locals. Not only big, it is effective, with some remarkable successes in getting municipalities and state legislatures to enact its radical policy goals into law.

And when the registrations were refused, ACORN officials, fearing that they would not be paid the per-capita bounty [by the Democrats], as promised, threatened to sue the county. However, when four ACORN workers were indicted by the U.S. Attorney in Kansas City on November 1, on charges of submitting some 14,000 bogus voter registrations, the Seattle ACORN officials dropped their threat.

As the article points out, the Dems are really vulnerable on this, yet the GOP doesn't seem bright enough to exploit it. The tie-in to the firing of the federal judges relative to this issue is also paramount to get to the public's eye. Why is the GOP asleep at the switch on so many of these opportunities?

O:ne has to wonder if being asleep is the problem. With all of the crap that has come out of Washingto DC, in the last few decades, it is difficult to imagine that one party could be responsible for all of it, without the other party pouncing on it and destroying them at every election.

ACORN is a CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE and should be RICO’d!

No argument from me, although I'd be content if the Jackals in the news media would simply question ACORN's representatives closely, and point out that they are highly partisan- not really "activists," but shills with several agendas...
