Jenna Bush, one of President and Mrs. Bush's twin daughters, is engaged to the son of Virginia's former lieutenant governor, the White House announced Thursday.

"President and Mrs. George W. Bush are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jenna Bush, to Mr. Henry Hager, son of the Honorable and Mrs. John H. Hager of Richmond, Virginia. Miss Bush and Mr. Hager became engaged Wednesday, August 15, 2007," reads a release issued from the White House.

*snip*

Hager, 29, and Bush were first seen out together at the inaugural balls in 2005. He is currently in his second year of grad school at University of Virginia's Darden School of Business. The two became engaged while vacationing in Maine.

Hmmmm. White House invitations are produced in house using an amazing Calligraphy machine. And if you try to make one like it, our lawyers will crush you.

I met John at a Leadership Institute picnic once, very briefly. Seemed like a nice guy. Congratulations to both.

I hope he’s aware of what he’s in for though. His children will be slandered on DU before they are even out of the hospital.

I wonder if young Mr. Hager has any political ambitions.

It would certainly tick off the liberals to get Jenna back in the White House.

I mean, Henry. John was the dad. Okay, it was a very brief meeting. Put it this way: I’m not getting invited to this wedding.

Nothing helps the name recognition like marrying the smoking-hot daughter of the leader of the free world ...

Best of luck to them both.

I think the actual story is that he contracted it while changing his son's diaper. I'm not sure if it was Henry or his brother (not that it matters).

John Hager is an amazing man. He is absolutely tireless and has never let the wheelchair slow him down.

I hope they don’t have a White House Wedding. If they want to, fine God Bless them. However, you know where ever the wedding is held, if its before Jan 09 you know the left-wing nuts will protest. I can see them try and get married in the Rose garden and have people yelling with bullhorns from the street.

Actually 29 is close to the average age for an MBA student. Hard to get into a top notch MBA program without substantial work experience. Probably worked 5+ years after finishing undergrad program somewhere. Just my guess.

Yes, the father has been in a wheelchair for years - but it seems not to have slowed him down. Curiously, he contracted polio at the same time one of his sons was vaccinated for it.

If it’s a personal attack for me to say it applies to you, then what’s it called when you post it to Millee?

This was a post that you yourself posted to another FReeper. Why do you object when it’s turned around back to you? Is it only OK when you post it to another and not when someone uses your own post back to you?
