Using language which has been included in their resolutions for some years now, the Knights of Columbus this week again resolved at their annual convention to forbid pro-abortion politicians from attending their events. The resolution forbids "bestowing on [dissenters] honors or privileges of our Order of any kind."
"That applies to public functions of any sort, and it is enforced," Patrick Korten, the Knights' Vice President for Communications, told California Catholic Daily. "We expect that council membership committees, when considering applications from potential new members, would take a person's views on abortion and life issues into account."
The Knights also issued an official declaration opposed to the legalization of same-sex marriage, titled, "In Support of Natural Marriage."

Asked for a clarification of whether the resolution bans membership for openly pro-abortion politicians, Korten replied, "inasmuch as the Order's pro-life position is widely known and understood, there are very few who choose to join or to remain members who are not pro-life. A number of politicians (and others) who favor abortion have chosen voluntarily to withdraw from the Order."

In other words - they will take the same limp-wristed approach as the Catholic Church... make threats, and not follow through...
They are part of the “American Catholic Church” as opposed to the Roman Catholic Church. The full-fledged schism beckons ever more widely. We are up to forty-eight million abortions and counting and this is still on their agenda.
It is a sad day, and I am a Knight. I know a lot of Pro Lifers who are really turned off by the Order...

Anyway, the article snip doesn't say they aren't being cut.
Trust me... They AREN’T being cut. The K of C Supreme By-Laws and Constitution requires a full-fledged “trial” by the Grand Knight with charges to be brought by a member on grounds such as “scandal or detriment to the Order.” I have not heard of one such trial being brought yet.
The California and Louisiana State Councils had Pro Life members who were clamoring for this change several years ago. However, they were shut out at the National Convention with another “band aid” resolution.
In short, this is the “third rail” of the K of C. Nobody wants to touch it.

I thought there was a sentence of automatic ex-communication for Catholics who were pro-abortion anyway. Which means any KOC which professes such beliefs shouldn’t be a member anyway.
