"We should keep the government out of it. We should allow the mother ultimately to make those kinds of decisions."

Talk about a slip of the tongue

Hey Rudy if it is a MOTHER than it is a BABY

Waggle, I really don't think a New York Republican has a chance of winning the GOP presidential nod; what sells in New York does not sell in the GOP heartland.

But even if Murphy's Law works overtime and by some insane fate Rudi is the Republican candidate, I'll still be stuck voting for him instead of Hillary or Osama, or voting for those two in effect by tossing my vote to a third party candidate.

He doesn’t care anymore because he believes that even those opposed to abortion will still flock to him in the end. To him we’re just a bunch of radicals who in the end will have to negotiate this principle.

News Flash Rudy, ain’t going to happen on my end.

Unfortunately there ARE lots of Republicans (i.e. the Rudy apologists who were banned from here) who ARE willing to totally abandon and trash traditional conservative values and principles to elect "THEIR LIBERAL" candidate.

It's absolutely pathetic.

What Rooty doesn’t get is that it isn’t just abortion, he is also on the wrong side of the Second Amendment, illegal aliens, the homosexual agenda and big government in general. Every conservative I know has one or two (or more) principles on which they are unflexible, Rooty is insane if he thinks he can fool everyone. As far as I can tell, Rooty doesn’t have a SINGLE conservative credential (because I don’t consider the war on terror and national defense to be strictly conservative principles, even though nearly all conservatives support them).

“But in a society in which we don‘t want government running people‘s lives,” he said.”

Umm I think the govt has a vested interest in preventing murder. But hey I haven’t cross dressed, married my cousin, dodged the draft, cheated on my 2nd wife and advocated attacking the 2nd Amendment so what do I know.

BINGO!!!

You hit the nail on the head---as it is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS to think that ONLY Rudy will aggressively and effectively fight the WOT!! That defense of Rudy (that the Rudy apologists routinely use) naive, outrageous and just plain WRONG.

Other than being mayor for NY at 911 I know very little of the Conservative Principles he carries. I think he’s for tax cuts but even on that I’m unsure because in my mind I can’t quite get past his pro-abortion stance and especially when he supports taxpayers funding it for low income women.

Rudy supported the far-left, socialist, liberal (Mario Cuomo) over the Republican candidate (Pataki) largely because,,,,to use Rudy's own words,,,,,the Republican 'wanted to cut taxes too much'.

Add that to his call for USING OUR TAX DOLLARS FOR FEDERAL FUNDING OF ABORTION--and I don't need to hear any more about his tax cutting in NYC or his fiscal restraint.

Uh Rudy, the government was out of it until rogue SCOTUS justices created a right out of their asses.

If Rooty were the ONLY GOP candidate who supported the war on terror, then things would be very different. But the reality is that ALL of the real Republicans (I don’t think Ron Paul is any more a Republican than Rooty is) support the war just as much as he does and the Rooty Rooters can’t seem to grasp that.

As far as being mayor of NYC on 9/11/01, let’s remember that in his first seven years as mayor he did NOTHING to develop an evacuation plan for a KNOWN terrorist target where evacuation had already been demonstrated to be critical. Yet Rooty continues to talk about his 9/11 experience the same way John sKerry talked about Vietnam.

Exactly, it's absolutely ridiculous to think that Rudy is the ONLY Republican who will aggressively fight the WOT,,,,,given:

(1) The incredible growth in government surveillance activities from the Patriot Act,

(2) The growth in government surveillance in ECHELON,

(3) The growth in government surveillance in CARNIVORE,

(4) Redeployment of FBI personnel from illegal drugs to national security,

(5) The removal of the Gorelick Wall (thanks, again Slick—Rudy, are you listening?),

(6) The new gigantic government bureaucracy, with tens of thousands of new government employees, the TSA,

(7) With its huge, bigger, parent version—the new Washington, DC, bureaucracy (aka the Homeland Security Dept),

(8) The blank check now given to our intelligence agencies, and,

(9) The greatly increased coordination/info sharing between our intelligence agencies and the foreign intel agencies of our allies and friends,

(10) Belated arming of our aircrews (NO THANKS TO GUN-GRABBING LIBERALS LIKE RUDY),

(11) Increased presence of federal air marshals,

(12) The new, first-ever Director of National Intelligence,

(13) Stepped-up, updated and more thorough background checks on all employees in sensitive positions (govt and private industry), and

(14) Who knows what else—as this is all that quickly comes to mind--I’m sure there’s lots more that we aren’t even aware of,,,

--and you see that Pres Bush will be leaving behind a strong, impressive and formidable line of defense that any future President can ride on for a long, long, long time.

Rooty’s 9/11 performance only counts if you consider the fact that in the seven previous years he had done nothing to prepare for an attack against a known terrorist target (unless you count the incompetent decision to put a command center in the middle of it. And if history is a guide, I’m unaware of ANYONE suggesting Admiral Husband E. Kimmel for higher office after Pearl Harbor was attacked.

Rooty talks about tax cuts, but I have yet to see any comprehensive tax plan. Besides, I believed GHWB far more than I will ever believe Rooty and look where “read my lips, no new taxes” got us.

In all honesty, I think it’s insane to believe that Hitlery would abandon the war. She’s a Stalinist, not a pacifist and she would love to have a military victory on her record.

"More than a decade ago, a Supreme Court decision literally wiped off the books of fifty states statutes protecting the rights of unborn children. Abortion on demand now takes the lives of up to one and a half million unborn children a year. Human life legislation ending this tragedy will someday pass the Congress, and you and I must never rest until it does. Unless and until it can be proven that the unborn child is not a living entity, then its right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness must be protected.

You may remember that when abortion on demand began, many, and indeed, I'm sure many of you, warned that the practice would lead to a decline in respect for human life, that the philosophical premises used to justify abortion on demand would ultimately be used to justify other attacks on the sacredness of human life -- infanticide or mercy killing. Tragically enough, those warnings proved all too true.

~~~ President Ronald Reagan, March.8, 1983, Orlando Florida
I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights, Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. “No, I have not supported that, and I don’t see my position on that changing,” he responded. Source: CNN.com, “Inside Politics” Dec 2, 1999 http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Rudy_Giuliani_Abortion.htm
ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES (November 14, 2006)
RUDY GIULIANI (R), FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY: I'm pro- choice. I'm pro-gay rights.
KING: Giuliani supports a woman's right to an abortion, and back in 1999, he opposed a federal ban on late-term abortions.
GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.
KING: Immigration could be another presidential landmine. Back in 1996, Mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants.
JEFFREY: He took the side of illegal immigrants in New York City against the Republican Congress.
KING: Giuliani opposes same-sex marriage but as mayor, he supported civil unions and extending health and other benefits to gay couples. He also supported the assault weapons ban and other gun control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association.
GIULIANI: I'm in favor of gun control. I'm pro-choice.
Republican Big-Wigs Support Pro-Abortion Event in NY
Pro-abortion Governor George Pataki and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform.
