Decisions Upend Judges' Lives (Judge George Greer at AMA Annual Meeting)
CAL Law ^ | August 13, 2007 | Mike McKee

Posted on 08/19/2007 3:41:17 AM PDT by amdgmary

More than two years after enraging right-wing groups by ordering Terry Schiavo's feeding tube removed, George Greer still peers over his shoulder nervously at times.

In fact, the Florida judge told a rapt audience Friday at the American Bar Association's annual meeting, he even used an alias when he registered at his San Francisco hotel on this trip.

Two years ago, he said, someone in the Bay Area threatened to kill him over his decision to end life support for the brain-damaged Schiavo. And even though that person was prosecuted and jailed, Greer said, he's taking no chances.

"It is a little unnerving," he said. "I still can't see a strange car come down my street without wondering [who's behind the steering wheel]."

Greer talked about he and his wife had to be placed under 24-hour watch after Operation Rescue posted their home address and phone number on its Web site. All of their mail was checked by authorities and on one occasion dead flowers were delivered to their condominium with a note reading, "No Food, No Water" — a reference to Schiavo.

"It got to the point," Greer said, "that we felt a little trapped in our apartment."

No comment (My post would be surely pulled) except that this is one arrogant deceitful monster. He sees HIMSELF as the victim!!!

Good. I hope he’s haunted by this all the day’s of his life. And reminded of it constantly in hell.

Greer and his wife got 24-hour protection, and Terri got NOTHING????? NOT EVEN A DROP OF WATER?

A priest speaking on EWTN said that he was present at her death, and that her husband lied about it being a peaceful death. He said it was horrible.

Some citizens just are better than others and get to decide
who lives and who dies.

I thought this was the guy who was very close to being legally blind. Maybe I got it wrong. Maybe that was somebody else. Maybe he's telling the truth about recognizing strange cars on his street.

Awww. Poor wittle judge, twapped in his apawtment.

Probably didn't feel as trapped as Terri felt, being trapped in a body that wouldn't let her communicate, was unresponsive, and dying.

It should be mentioned in every discussion involving Terry:

Her parents were willing to take over full expenses for her care and feeding. Not that that should matter, but I believe it is worth mentioning.

Keeping her alive (aside from all the moral issues) would have inconvenienced no one.

(I feel I should mention this for those lurkers who believe that she really was brain-dead.)

The greatest thing to come out of this episode is the unwillingness of Christians to forgive Greer. I am sure God wants nothing to do with him. I doubt Jesus would even bother trying to talk God into saving him.

I am sure if we had gotten some preachers with an inside track to God, like Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, Joyce Meyer and Pat Pobertson, together in the same room with Terri, she would be a fixture on the talk show circuit today.

Damn you to hell, Judge Greer.

One of the few times I was truly ashamed of this country! This man is the epitome of evil. He will face his own judgment eventually!

Whether “Christians” forgive Greer or not is completely irrelevant. The opinion of every Christian on planet earth counts not one whit as to where Greer spends eternity.

The fact is that everybody — me, you, Bill Clinton, George Bush, Judge Greer — has to decide who is in charge, us or God. There are many points each day where a person makes that decision. The cumulative effect of these daily decisions determine our destiny. The Bible refers to people who continually decide incorrectly as having “given themselves over to a reprobate heart”. “Reprobate” means “unwilling to listen to reproof”.

Such people refuse to avail themselves of Christ’s forgiveness. Sure enough, God wants nothing to do with these people, and they, in effect, damn themselves to hell.

My advice to anybody is to focus on the truth of Christ and quit worrying about what “Christians” or money-grubbing TV preachers do or don’t do. Read the Bible.

If Judge Greer would do that instead of making self-serving speeches before his admirers, he wouldn’t be damned to hell.
