John Edwards' worst enemy is Edwards
St. Petersburg Times ^ | 8/19/07 | PHILIP GAILEY

Posted on 08/19/2007 10:54:38 AM PDT by LdSentinal

What is with John Edwards these days? The self-styled populist speaks of dark forces in corporate America and the "mainstream media" who are out to silence him. Has it occurred to Edwards that he could be his own worst enemy? He keeps saying and doing things that distract from his signature issues - poverty and universal health insurance. He sets himself up for ridicule and political knocks because he seems to have one standard for himself and another for everyone else. He makes it easy for critics to tag him for hypocrisy.

He is taking aim these days at the Democratic left's favorite villain - Rupert Murdoch and his News Corp., which own the Fox News Channel and recently purchased the Wall Street Journal. Edwards, who has prostrated himself before every interest group in the Democratic Party, was quick to align himself with liberal bloggers in demanding that the Democratic presidential candidates boycott any debate co-sponsored by Murdoch's Fox News. The other candidates fell in line. No one mentioned that in past years Edwards rarely missed an opportunity to appear on Fox.

More recently, Edwards climbed on his high horse and demanded that Hillary Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, return $20,000 in campaign donations from News Corp. executives. The Edwards campaign boasted in an e-mail to supporters: "John Edwards will never ask Rupert Murdoch for money - he won't accept his money."

Oh really?

Then how does he explain the $500,000 advance and the $300,000 in expenses he received from HarperCollins, which is owned by News Corp., for a coffee table book on the childhood homes of people like, for example, John Edwards, who grew up in a modest house in a North Carolina mill town?

Edwards is not the only lib that thinks there is a different set of rules for him than he promotes for others. That type of liberal thinking is common among all the liberal elite. I think the only reason Edwards’ hypocrisy is news is Hillary is pulling strings behind the scene, making sure Edwards’ warts are out there for all to see. Edwards will find any Clinton is a tough opponent because of their no holds barred campaign style. As will anyone else on the Dem ticket that shows any sign of gaining a credible number of votes.

You have to admire John Edwards, in a way. I have never seen a more brazen and outrageous in-your-face liar in U.S. political history.

At the drop of a hat he can come up with forceful deceitful answers when confronted about his endless hypocrisy. Then again, he made his millions as a crooked lying trial lawyer, in phony medical malpractice cases.

I only wish Hillary was ever asked one-tenth of the embarassing questions put to Silky Pony.

I agree completely with you that Hillary is just as bad (in my mind far worse) as John Edwards. Yet no one ever asks her a single question. Her control of the media is awesome.

That ego of his won’t let him see the light. He’s toast, he just don’t know it. He never was anything but a ambulance chasing sue machine. Hell even John Kerry regrets picking him for VP because he was shallow on substance.

Can you imagine Edwards meeting with Putin when he trembles at the very thought of having somebody from Fox News ask him a question? He, along with Hillary and Obama, are weak and nerdy cowards. None of them presidential.

Hillary is the presses sweetheart they’ll never put the hard questions to her, just like they had to be drug kicking and screaming by the British press to the Lewinsky affair. Talk radio is who will bring the beast down.

Bill Clinton was found by a judge to have lied and was fined.

Hillary Clinton was found to have lied by her fingerprints being on FBI files she said she never saw.

Both proven liars.

An article yesterday quoted him as saying he remembers his daddy watching educational programs on PBS so he could learn to read and get promoted at the mill. I about fell out of my chair laughing at that incredible stretch, linking PBS to erasing illiteracy in our country.

Reminds me of Clinton’s bogus recollections of watching churches burn and his wife claiming she was named after Edmund Hillary. Democrats must be the most insecure people on earth having to constantly lie like that.

He keeps saying and doing things that distract from his signature issues - poverty and universal health insurance.

How can poverty be a signature issue when you live in a multi-million dollar palatial mansion? And why would an ambulance chaser have universal health care as another signature issue? The government would indemnify itself and that would close the door on ambulance chasing. Even though Breck Boy has made his millions, he is receiving money from trial attorney's groups, and certainly they don't to kill the golden goose. Me thinks Edwards is a phony who is using the poor as stepping stones to the White House.

This has to represent one of the most ill-concealed political payoffs in history.

In no way can HarperCollins earn back $800,000 from such a publication. I doubt they would even see $800,000 in gross sales, much less profit. And $300,000 in expenses for producing the concept. That's insane!

This was nothing less than a $750,000 political payoff.

Speaker Jim Wright, he of "unions buy my books by the (unopened) case" fame, would be proud of Edwards.

John Edwards is so far removed from the American people, he has no idea that $400 haircuts charged to the campaign, or charging $300,000 for personal expenses from Harper Collins is wrong in the first place.

It’s only wrong in his view is that the vast right wing conspirators are bringing all this stuff to the attention of the American people.

At this point, through HIS BEHAVIOR, he has cut off any chance of even getting on the ticket of Hillary or Obama as a VP candidate.

Go home, John, and stay indoors in that 28,000 square foot shack of yours. Even your neighbors and other North Carolinians don’t want you.

Then when the time comes he’ll shepard them behind the rat convention winner.

Edwards acknowledged that his notorious primping has led to rumors that he might be gay, but insisted that he is “merely effeminate.” “I love looking good and dressing well,” Edwards said. “Many have jumped to the conclusion that this means I’m gay. But I’m not. I would consider lesbianism, but I’m not cut out for it. Still, I firmly believe in gay rights and, as president, would fight for those rights.” Edwards suggested that his comprehensive national health plan should reassure gays that “their special diseases would be fully covered.”

Edwards also took a shot at Clinton, saying her husband’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on serving in the military was “wrongheaded.” “The Spartans were gay and they are recognized as the most fearsome warriors in history,” Edwards asserted. “Why three hundred of them killed ten thousand Persians in a film earlier this year. So, I think we may be missing out by not actively recruiting gays and promoting gay relations among our troops.”

There is only one good thing in al of this: as much as is possible in politics, we know the Witch will be the DemonRats' nominee. That makes judging the pubbie candidates easier and their competition with each other easier. Instead of attacking each other, they should compete to see who can do the best job attacking the Witch. I, in turn, am going to vote for the one I decide has the best chance of defeating her. Hence, I'm not going to vote until the last possible moment. Right now I don't have a definite candidate and the only one I exclude is McCain.

None of them presidential. It really strikes to the core of the issues when these DemonRatz Presidental contestants are more scared & fearful of Fox News than the real enemies of the USA: Bin Laden, North Korea, Iran etc.

They are scared that they wont get any softball questions and will face a real grilling with really hard questions from folks that are not afraid of them.

So if they are so scared of Fox News how then as President will they deal with and face deadly enemies of the USA hellbent on our destruction?

Skinnyboy Obama says to nuke our friend Pakistan while he will sit across from the table with our enemies (N.Korea, Iran, Fidel Castro, Chavez). The rest of the candidates are always at work behind the scenes now gutting our forces in Iraq and sabotaging the President as Commander-In-Chief ever which way.

He’s no different than any of the dim candidates.

It’s the MSM that determines the front runner by omission of facts.
They simply fail to ask the questions or omit facts for their candidate of choice.

That candidate is Hillary. A woman that entered the White House as First Lady, an unpaid, unelected position and leaves a multi-millionaire.
A woman that is politically tone deaf but with the MSM’s help comes across as a great orator.( and smartest woman in America)
