Iran commander warns enemies of "hell" in Gulf

TEHRAN (Reuters) - The Gulf would become a "hell" for Iran's enemies if they were to attack the Islamic Republic, a commander of the country's elite Revolutionary Guards was quoted as saying on Sunday.

It was the latest in a series of defiant statements from senior Guards figures after U.S. officials on Wednesday said the United States may soon name the force a terrorist group, a move that would enable Washington to target its finances.

"With the power the Guards have obtained now, if the enemies want to ... start a military confrontation, the Persian Gulf will become a hell for them," Ali Razmjoo, a naval commander of the Revolutionary Guards, told the Fars News Agency.

"By using modern systems, no activities and threats by the enemies in the Persian Gulf would be hidden from us," he said.

Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki separately dismissed reports of the planned U.S. move as a "propaganda game," the ISNA news agency reported.

Another “mother of all battles” statement from a commander of a military that only stacks up as competent or effective when fighting unarmed civilians and/or forces from the same cultural group.

I doubt the soldiers of Iran would have any real hope of survival, as a full military, during a weekend vacation in one of our harsher local neighborhoods.

This Iranian Commander has one thing right. The Gulf would become hell if we decide to attack Iran. He just identified the wrong recipient of that hell.

As pointed out earlier, with air and sea power alone we could crush their infrastructure, decimate their military assets, and cripple their economy for years without sacrificing one soldier.

I keep having this voice telling me that Russia and China will not sit idly by and watch us attack Iran, without getting (more) involved.

As well, both have been sending Iran all types of anti- ship and aircraft weaponry as of late.
Throw in Russia’s “Bear” drills and that voice keeps getting louder.

The fear rests in the minds of the Iranian soldiers. They know what it would mean if the US did move against them. Stories from Iraq have grown to where there is no hope for them. I know what I’d be thinking!

Russia and China see a stupe with lots of oil money in their “friend” iran. Russian mil stuff is junk, knockoff russian mil stuff from China probaly worse than the junk they sell us at Wallyworld.

Don’t think either Russia or China are stupid enough to want to take us on especially for on behalf of iran.
