Video at source. Love the last line - "Sometimes the "blast" from the ice hitting the water is so big that hunters find dislodged salmon in the tops of pine trees on the banks of the river." Now surfers...

A couple of things occur to me - how long before someone is killed and they have to put big signs up on the glaciers - unsafe to surf the waves from a calving glacier?

Second is what a thoroughly stupid way to find a thrill - won’t hurt anybody but the person, but like Bill Shatner said a long time ago - “Get a life”

If they want the thrill of risky behavior, maybe they can join the military and fight for our country???

Reminds me of a great song from the 80’s, Surf or Die. I’m not writing the name of the band though.

The first sound he’ll hear is his life insurance policy being torn up.

didn’t look particularly dangerous to me. he was a pretty good distance from the glacier, so little danger of getting impaled with ice. The wave wasn’t very big, and he had a jetski not only to tow him in to the wave but pick him up if he fell.

Surfing is actuall quite popular here in Alaska. I live near Turnagain Arm, site of a twice daily "Bore tide" that produces a rideable wave that runs 40 miles up the arm.
