Attorneys for the Metropolitan Airports Commission and U.S. Airways pushed their case in the Minneapolis federal court Tuesday against six Imams kicked off a flight.
The lawyers for MAC and U.S. Airways asked the judge to throw out the Imams lawsuit against them. From there, the judge will decided whether to dismiss the entire lawsuit, allow parts of it to go forward, or to approve the entire case for trial.
All six Muslim leaders were kicked off a November flight after some passengers said they were acting suspiciously. The Imams were released after being questioned by the FBI and the Secret Service.
In court, however, attorney Fred Goetz told the judge, U.S. Airways and the MAC, "Want to keep everything under the carpet and dismiss everything."
Goetz called the Imams, "victims," who were never charged.
Attorney Dane Jaques, for U.S. Airways, warned of a chilling effect if the lawsuit were allowed to go forward and defend the captain, saying, "If there is a security threat and he decides not to take action, the results could be catastrophic."
Judge Ann Montgomery seemed skeptical at times, asking at one point if U.S. Airways showed "willful blindness" by not asking the right questions before kicking the Imams off the flight; it was discovered that some of the information given to the captain turned out to be false.
Montgomery will take at least a week before deciding whether to dismiss the lawsuit.
“Flyin’ Imams” ping......
On or off this ping list, FRmail me. All requests granted.
Just goes to show you... It only takes one liberal judge to ruin civilization.
Nominated by William J. Clinton on November 27, 1995
What they need to do is throw this out on the grounds that they provoked it...and then assess them legal fees for both sides and then the cost incurred by the incident..
there is a bad moon rising on this one..
A Clintoid. Heaven help us.
Take a week before he rules? What’s he doing, trying to make people think he is studying the issue? What a joke. To take a week says all it needs to. He will rule in favor of the demorats buddies.
I had a funny feeling.....
Yeah, I kinda got that feeling too.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that!
“it was discovered that some of the information given to the captain turned out to be false.”
^^^^Anyone have any more info on the above?
I don’t think that information is public. I could be wrong, but this is the first I’ve heard of it. We may have to wait for the trial, if there is one.
Thank you. It was the first time I had heard that as well. I didn’t feel like bouncing around the web to look it up right now.
This case (so far) gives me the confidence to say to my fellow
NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!!!
just giving folks notice of what lays ahead of us as our government
keeps bringing MORE And MORE And MORE MUSLIMS into the USA.
Such as the 40,000 to 50,000 Bosnian MUSLIMS in the greater St. Louis area.
HONESTLY...I PRAY that we don’t lose the great contest in Iraq
No telling how many MILLIONS of NUTBURGER MUSLIMS that OUR OWN US
Government will import into OUR BELOVED U.S.A.
I’ve even heard some prominent Democrats talk about the need for
“a contingency plan” to bring “friendly” Muslims to the USA...
when the DEMOCRATS pull our troops out of Iraq.
And, Lord knows, I’ve been trying to keep up with this story!!!
The passengers would have been better served to have jumped on these 6 “holy men” and tossed them off themselves, then beat them to a bloody pulp on the tarmac.
