500 laps, 266.5 miles
Degree of banking in corners: 36 degrees
Degree of banking in straights: 16 degrees
Straightaways are 650 feet long.
Concrete racing surface is 40 feet wide.
Seating capacity: ~160,000
Bristol has two pits roads: 21 pit stalls on the front stretch and 21 on the back stretch(1 must be shared)
Pit Stall Size: 25.5 feet long, 15.5 feet wide
Pit Road Speed: 35 mph
Pace Car Track Speed: 40mph

It’s watching this race in 1999 (while doing laundry) that I first became a NASCAR fan. That was the race that Dale E bumped Rusty Wallace I believe. I liked that Gordon said he just trying to win the races and he doesn’t care about the point standings.

I’ve heard that there was once thoughts that maybe Tennessee would play Virginia Tech at Bristol. That would be quite a site.

I hope the weather is a little more cooperative this weekend.

I keep telling Brains France that the west coast needs a Bristol type track. I think his email server must be down or something, no reply yet.
