Arizona School Suspends 13-Year-Old Boy for Drawing Gun

MESA, Arizona — Officials at an Arizona school suspended a 13-year-old boy for sketching what looked like a gun, saying the action posed a threat to his classmates.

The boy's parents said the drawing was a harmless doodle and school officials overreacted.

"The school made him feel like he committed a crime. They are doing more damage than good," said the boy's mother, Paula Mosteller.

The drawing did not show blood, bullets, injuries or target any human, the parents said. And the East Valley Tribune reported that the boy said he did not intend for the picture to be a threat.

Administrators of Payne Junior High in nearby Chandler suspended the boy on Monday for five days but later reduced it to three days.

The boy's father, Ben Mosteller, said that when he went to the school to discuss his son's punishment, school officials mentioned the seriousness of the issue and talked about the 1999 massacre at Colorado's Columbine High School, where two teenagers shot and killed 12 students, a teacher and themselves. Mosteller said he was offended by the reference.

Ridiculous. Good thing he didn't draw an RPG, they would be calling for 10 years prison time.

Well once you draw your gun, you’re prepared to fire, and that’s when trouble starts. If no one draws their weapons, we are all safer.

Official incompetence and malice induced by a faddish social hysteria of the current educational and prosecutorial cohort.

And the idiocy in America continues to be proliferated by the public school system.

We are long overdue for a change in the way that schools are operated, an end to the NEA and meaningful requirements for teachers AND administrators.

IOW, someone capable of rubbing two brain cells together and producing an actual thought!

another 12 year old in same town, different school, was doodling what the teacher thought was bullets for that gun and maybe she had intercepted a deadly cell of teorrorists

once the boy explained it was just pictures of his mom and sisters dildo’s., the teacher was relaxed and let him get back to work

... isn’t that the kind of teachers the NEA has lined the school faculty with?

Welcome to the U.S.S.A.(United Socialist States of America)

Were I the parent, my kid would not be going back to any public school. I would not want my child to think I condoned this Socialist/Communist mind-bent in anyway by subjecting him to one more hour within it's doors.

And I would sue all the way to the SCOTUS to get this stopped - or, at the least, get this out there for people to see and shake their heads over - and realize they should have their kids out of these GSIC's (Government Socialist Indoctrination Camps)

Clearly, the Birkenstockers have taken over the country. They're not letting go. If any thing, they're stronger than ever.

A perfect opportunity for this parent to withdraw his child from public school altogether and either homeschool or place him in a private school.

Best regards.
