In a cacophonous political environment, it matters a great deal that on the largest questions of the day, the president is right.
For anyone who was willing to invest 43 minutes to actually listen, President Bush during an appearance yesterday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention cut through the cacophony to remind Americans of why we are in Iraq and why the conventional storyline is wrong.

The battles are being won over there and the war is being lost over here. There’s also another similarity to the Vietnam war era (kind of): the Dems put up a peanut farmer for president back then — this time they’re putting up the peanuts.
The only question remaining is whether or not the American electorate is ignorant enough to elect one of those “peanuts” to the Presidency. I’m not optimistic.
This is absolute living, breathing BS!!! The US is not now and has never been the aggressor in world affairs, AND we tolerate as much and more bullying than almost any other nation on earth. NO NATION ON EARTH has as long a fuse as the US.
In spite of that, and when need be, that we do as well as we do militarily is truly remarkable.
