Bill Maher’s (Shades of Al Qaeda) “New Rules” Insult to Our Troops in Iraq
CBS News ^ | August 13, 2007 | CBS Staff

For those of you who thought you knew how low Bill Maher would go to get a laugh, this one may surprise you. For most of you though, it probably won’t.

As part of Bill’s program ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’, he has a ‘New Rules” segment. During this segment Maher lampoons various public figures and subjects in the news. While viewing a few minutes of Maher’s program today, I viewed the following presentation.

Cut to program… (Maher has just roasted Victoria Becham for not smiling in public…)

Broadcast…

“New Rule, journalists in Iraq must stop celebrating miracle babies rescued by American Soldiers. Like when U.S. Troops found little Fatima lying in a pile of rubble, and instead of bashing her head in with a rock, they brought her to a hospital. (Using high pitched mocking voice…) Ooo, what a miracle. (Raising fist into the air…) USA, number one! Thanks CBS for turning Iraq into a feel good story for the Baby Jessica fell down a well crowd. And no offense Fatima, but the real miracle in Iraq will be if you ever manage to get out.”

This segment aired on Sunday the 26th of Augusts from 2:00pm to 3:00pm PDST.

I included the “Shades of Al Qaeda” phrase in the title of this thread, because Al Qaeda wants people around the world to think the worst of our troops, and Bill Maher has proven himself willing to advance that effort.

From my perspective Maher implies it was a miracle U.S. Troops didn’t bash the baby’s head in rather than take her to the hospital. The headline of the CBS article made it very clear that the troops gave their heart to her instead. And at no time does Maher address who likely killed the baby’s mother and uncle. (Terrorists perhaps?)

While Maher has proven himself capable of putting out cutting edge humor that was “Not Politically Correct”, which drew me in as a viewer years ago, he has devolved into an unfortunate Bush hating, troop despising, and Iraqi freedom denying punk.

This guy is no longer worthy of breathing the same air as the rest of us. He is long overdue for a dirt nap.

Your average terrorist is a better American than Bill Maher.

Bill Maher is way past his shelf date. The only time he makes the news now is when he pulls an “Olbermann” and shoots off some crazy anti-U.S., anti-war, anti-Bush, anti-soldier (etc.) crap.

His shtick has grown way tiresome, and that’s way he needs to create this kind of PR for himself. Pathetic.

Maher needs a bus ticket to Key West, an inner tube from a trruck tire, a compass and a kick in the ass in the direction of Cuba. Dumb bastard.

No, Bill Maher needs a bus ticket Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina for a nice eleven week stint with the Recruit Training Regiment. It might give this traitorous SOB some insight as to what it means to be an American with the freedoms we enjoy... in particular, the Freedom of Speech and the responsibility that goes along with that freedom. What a jerk!

“Maher is a commie POS who needs his ass kicked for insulting US servicemen”.

If you see a line forming for that particular action, ping me so I can get there ASAP.

“And no offense Fatima, but the real miracle in Iraq will be if you ever manage to get out.”

There have been many inquiries into her adoption, but Iraqi law does not allow adoption outside of the country. Hey Bill, it is American service men and women who want to adopt her.

I watched that episode last night, and I wouldn't be surprised if the heads of several writers for that show are rolling. Bill looked very uncomfortable, as his "jokes" were not getting the laughs he expected.

Stephen Hayes more than held his own with Tim Robbins, and Tim wasn't too pleased to have his "facts" challenged by a man that wrote a book on VP Cheney. Michel Martin also surprised me a great deal. She must have a child that is now a teenager, or she's been mugged lately (I hope not, though). Whatever it is, she did not sound like a liberal on that show.

There were very few laughs following the "joke" about Baby Fatima.

All in all, an interesting hour of television. It appears to me that Bill better change his shtick, because he's not going to have Dubya to kick around much longer.

I'm not a political scientist, but the audience reaction last night was indicative of the national mood. The average American can see some progress being made with the surge, and they're willing to give it at least six more months. Jokes made at the expense of our soldiers will not fare well, because the upper echelons of the chain of command screwed up in Iraq, not our soldiers.

Bill Maher's shelf life will be expired by January 2009. He's rode the vitriolic hatred of Dubya (from the left) for the past six years. He's gone to that well so many times, he'll have nothing left to shout about when Dubya goes back to Crawford.

if this man is such a douchebag, why in heavens name do you watch?
Do yourself a favor, dont watch his shows, dont write about what he says and dont worry yourself about him. Ignore this ass and he will go away, just like a child having a tantrum. Keep writing about him, and he will just keep going on and on....
