The Last Hollywood Conservative (Vanity)
27 AUG 07 | Old Sarge

Posted on 08/27/2007 6:20:54 AM PDT by Old Sarge

Here is the topic for an attempt at serious discourse: Who Was The Last Hollywood Conservative?

Ronald Reagan: Left Hollywood for the political arena;

John Wayne: Passed away in the 70's before Reagan was elected to the Presidency, still making films up to his death;

Charlton Heston: Was still working in the 1990's before Alzheimer's took him;

Please, discuss this with me and, if you can, add to the list?

Bob Barker - Game show Host? 100% donations to GOP?

If true, that would be a big surprise to me because he so heavy into animal rights activism.

It seems that former porn stars are Republicans, current porn stars are Democrats.

Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., reads scripture on one of the religion channels ...

Late nights surfing non-cable, I've seen Michael Biehn (one of the best character actors in American film, IMO -- Aliens, Tombstone, Terminator, Abyss) on a religious channel. I'd bet dollars to donuts he's a conservative.

I was a little surprised that Paul Anka contributed mostly Democratic. He always seemed like a conservative kind of guy.

Yes, that’s the guy. I remember he was in town with his x-treme sports ministry during a Luis Palau conference.

When you mentioned Paul Anka...that brought Wayne Newton to my mind...I think he’s a Republican...of course, he’s not Hollywood, he’s Vegas.

One of my favorite Websites

The Hollywood Patriots of WWII

http://www.wyolife.com/KerryFest/WWII%20Actors.htm

Now I’m sure that not all of these stars were Republicans, but, even the most liberal on this list was many times more conservative than most of todays Hollywood elite.

What is so fantastic is how many of them put their careers on hold until they did their duty to their country. This list should also include those wonderful entertainers who entertained the troops or toured the country raising money for war bonds sometimes passing up movie auditions and on at least one occasion (Carole Lombard) , losing their lives on tour.

“...seemed like a conservative kind of guy.”

I think the big problem is that the California cities of greater LA and SF are sooooo far Left some think they are conservative because they stand up to the most nutty extremism. Then there are the hardcore Leftists like Striesand who put in some real serious money. Charlie Daniels does not have Barbra’s dough but he is down on that list with $500 ... all for Demos.

The young Hollywood trendy set supports the Dems about ten to one over the GOP wouldn’t you say?
