Several gathered up at Mt. Rose on Tuesday with one goal, to bring the 2018 Winter Olympic Games to Reno-Tahoe.

The 1960 Winter Games were held in Tahoe, but were confined to Squaw Valley. Those supporting the 2018 campaign told News 4 the Reno-Tahoe games would include more events and athletes, as well as have a huge impact on tourism in the region.

They also said they are confident Reno-Tahoe has the capability to host such an event, with large venues like Lawlor Events Center, and the University of Nevada, Reno, to serve as a plausible Olympic Village.

We really need it here too. Hope we get the bid if the California side doesn’t muck it up too much.

The bulk of the cool stuff is on the NV side anyway so CA should just keep their noses out of it until the NV folks have it sewn up!

I used to live in Reno and drive up to Tahoe all the time.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.

Well, that would make the gals at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch happy.

I am of the opinion that it would ruin one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.

It is an awesomely breathtaking area; The development that accompanies an Olympic bid will destroy that beauty, or at least some of it. I just don't see the need.

The bulk of the development would be done down in Reno where it would be welcomed from what I hear.

Tahoe would probably only be used for skiing (alpine, slalom and jumping) and sledding events (bobsled and luge).

Any large venues and the olympic village would be down in Reno.
