The Christians of Iraq are suffering daily under increasing imposition of Sharia law. Many have found some kind of refuge in Jordan, Syria, and elsewhere but need to get to the West where they will be safe. I believe there is no future in Iraq for these Christians. Pressure has to be put on Congress to allow refugee status for a higher number of these folks. American Christians have a duty to look out for fellow Christians in distress.
I am trying to get a more widely based activist group off the ground, but I need help with some brain power. Basically coordinating church people, the Assyro-Chaldean community in the US (who are probaably doing all they can already) and anyone else who is interested. The basic thrust of my idea would be to increase the number of Iraqi Christians allowed into the US per month (as refugees) and making an issue of the status of Christians in Iraq——that they have no security there. Please some ideas. I want this to be broad based philosophically/ politically/ ideologically even though I am fairly conservative. Whoever replies I will give them my e-mail and maybe get something more offf the ground.
I always wonder why we’re welcoming illiterate Mexicans with open arms while we make it difficult for good Christian people to immigrate here. Truly disgusting.
Of the over 30,000 Iraqies in San Diego, the majority are Chaldeans.
How many of them will vote Republican. That is very important you know.
Now is the occasion for GW to shine as a Christian and use his executive powers to help his fellow Christians to escape persecution. He has offered help to Iraqi Muslims - let him now do the same for its Christian population.
without trying to rain on your well placed good intentions, wasn’t the idea ‘about the invasion about keeping the country together rather than taking pieces away from it? If you take all the Christians out of Iraq, then it end a wholey Islamic culture.
I hope he takes advantage of this chance.
That’s actually a really good point.
When Sadam was captured, a large number of them also Kurds were in from of the Federal Bldg. on the Plaza in their costumes, dancing and music with signs, thank you Pres. Bush
they come around once a blue moon, so check me out in 30 days... ;)
“Thats actually a really good point.”
What is the really good point? The few Christians that are there have no impact in the ME, certainly not politically.
