UC Berkeley fences in tree-sitters

Berkeley -- Three days before Cal's football team opens its season at home, UC Berkeley today began erecting a chain-link fence around the oak grove next to Memorial Stadium where a half-dozen tree-sitters have been roosting since December.
Five to 10 protesters remain in the oak and redwood trees, where they will be surrounded by the fence. They vowed to remain in the trees as 80,000 Cal and Tennessee football fans filter past the grove Saturday to and from the 5 p.m. football game, which will be nationally televised.

Who the hell can afford to live in CA and do nothing all day but sit in a tree? I’ve got a 24” bar 2077 Jonsered chainsaw that is about as un-enviromentally friendly as hell that would love to taste one of those trees they are sitting in...

The tree-sitters are protesting university plans to remove several dozen of the trees to build a sports training facility.
I wonder how many trees they could have planted in the same amount of time.

Hit them with those pepper spray filled paintballs. A collegiate died from one of those things in Boston. Hit her just at the right, er, wrong spot (eye region). Some celebratory BoSox riot.
As for the fence, make it very tall double fence, razor wire on top, along with one way gates. Have it space between patrolled by dogs confiscated from drug dealers...
