In light of recent accusations against Al Gore that hes not doing enough to walk the walk, PETA has a suggestion that could help with that issue: Go vegetarian.
The animal rights group recently sent a letter to the former Vice President encouraging him to drop meat and help curb emissions generated by the livestock industry. From the release,
The effect that our meat addiction is having on the climate is truly staggering. In fact, in its recent report Livestockâs Long ShadowâEnvironmental Issues and Options, the United Nations determined that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined
The group goes on and points to a recent study conducted at the University of Chicago in which those who switched to a vegan diet did more to combat global warming than those that switched to a hybrid from a conventional gas vehicle.
The single best thing that any of us can do to for our health, for animals, and for the environment is to go vegetarian, says PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk. The best and easiest way for Mr. Gore to show his critics that heâs truly committed to fighting global warming is to kick his meat habit immediately.
Poor Al. Now even his eating habits are under attack. Arent Oscar winners supposed to be enjoying the praise that follows the winning moment? Seems Gore cant catch a break. Still, it might not be such a bad idea to give veggies the front and center for awhile. Not only will you cut down on emissions and save animals, but youll also get nice and lean for those Martin Scorsese offers that are bound to be flowing in at any moment. Mark my words: Al Gore is the next Alec Baldwin.

I thought I read somewhere that 10% of our energy is used in feeding, taking care-of, and transfering animal products e.g dairy, meat, etc.
I could be wrong...but I remember it was a significant number. I for one have to eat some meat. Veggies are a side dish.
Al Gore became a vegetable and annoys the world.
This is nice to see. Let another extreme pressure group put pressure on a guy who is on a crusade to lecture us from here to kingdom come about global warming. Let him be on the receiving end of some of this lecturing. Seems fitting.
You look... possessed.
The Fundamentalist Pagans are beginning to think that their Pope isn’t a true believer. Sectarian infighting?
Cows are also flatulant. What’ll we do to replace leather seats in our cars? Use petroleum to make plastics?
Paul McCartney claimed the same thing but confessed to the occasional steak and eggs.
Me?
I’m saving the world from cow farts one steak at a time. A few burgers on the side, some bacon, ham and the odd chicken or three rounds things out.
Not with a belly like that!
How about Gore-bachev become a vegetarian to lose weight!
LOL, if that's the truth, then I'm more pro-environment than Al Gore. Plus I've never flown anywhere.
PETA almost makes me want to eat animals again, tho.
He can’t become a vegetarian because he’s already a fruit.
Vegans are more stupid than those who eat meat, said researchers from the University of Southampton in the British Medical Journal.
And there was no difference in IQ between strict vegetarians and those who classed themselves as veggie but still ate fish or chicken.
But vegans - vegetarians who also avoid dairy products - scored significantly lower, averaging an IQ score of 95.
Researcher Dr Catharine Gale said there could be several explanations for the findings, including intelligent people being more likely to consider both animal welfare issues and the possible health benefits of a vegetarian diet.
I am eating a lot more veggies these days than I did when I was younger. I feel better, I smell better and I even sleep better.
But ANY attempt to force me into a vegetarian lifestyle immediately has me longing for a double-decker bacon cheeseburger with chili-fries on the side.
Gore’s environmentalism is driven by his hunger for power and money. His campaign, his book, his movie are all aimed at passing laws to force governments, industries and the public to adhere to draconian new standards including a North American carbon trading system.
All this will cost billions and Gore has positioned himself to be at the center of the new green money bonanza. He plans on being the chief arbitrator between industry and government in settling violations and claims.
Note to PETA:
Your ancestors and mine fought their way up the food chain to survive, they killed and ate lower animals to do this and evolved. They learned lots of stuff, produced lots of stuff and gave birth to modern man in the process. In doing this, they gave us our lives and futures.
What do you think they would say if they knew that all they went through for evolution was so you bunch of silly weaklings could eat sprouts and tofu and constantly irritate us with your arrogance and blatant stupidity?
Geez, to maintain that bloated form, he’d have to eat up all the veggies and there wouldn’t be any left for anyone else!
I can’t picture the big bully going skinny on us.
Yes, let them all ... ummmm ... eat their own, as it were
Popcorn, anyone ???? :)
I don't think so. This idiot website notwithstanding the fact is that Algore has made a great wager that global warming will be a mainstream issue for at least the next year and a half. He is planning to run on it, and his Nobel Peace Prize, to be awarded this fall. He can't afford to get in bed with the whacko animal rights moonbats and start saying that cutting down on cow burps will save the world. His alignment with the GW hysterics is a high enough risk without that.
>> Cows are also flatulant. Whatll we do to replace leather seats in our cars?
Well, /technically speaking/, cows that have achieved their “highest and best use” (upholstery, steaks) are no longer flatulant.
The key, then, is to convert as many as possible live flatulant cows into useful, inflatulant* accessories.
Steaks and Leather! Do it for Mother Earth!
*is that a word?
Yes --------

Yes, and ol' Paulie still engages in the occasional greens too, if ya know what I mean ........ ;)
If Gore had the knobs, he’d reply:
Hey PETA, why don’t you instead of wasting millions of dollars on advertising, actually save and adopt out a few thousand animals instead of killing them?
It’s the classic ‘hypocrite vs hypocrite’ battle.
Do what many of us do. Get meat from organic, free range animals. for me it goes back to supporting biblical stewardship principles, and there is a taste difference in meat that isn’t full of antibiotics and growth hormones. In general I think the animals are healthier and it comes across that way in the end product, a healthier product.
