Let's cut to the chase: conservative Republicans have only one choice for President in 2008: Congressman Ron Paul of Texas. Unlike the GOP frontrunners, Paul is the real deal.
No real conservative could support Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Fred Thompson, or Newt Gingrich. When it comes to historic conservative principles, each of these men is as phony as a three dollar bill. That they are now attempting to cast themselves as conservatives is more than laughable: it is downright hilarious.

If one wants a true photograph of how a congressman or senator votes on conservative, constitutional issues, the best place to look is the Freedom Index in the New American Magazine. Ron Paul almost always ranks as the most conservative congressman from either chamber or either party. His current ranking is 100%, which is a score that few congressmen or senators, except Ron Paul, ever achieve. And Paul does it routinely.
See the Freedom Index here: http://www.jbs.org/files/fi-110-1.pdf

Ron Paul said these words, "I have never been one who is comfortable talking about my faith in the political arena. In fact, the pandering that typically occurs in the election season I find to be distasteful. But for those who have asked, I freely confess that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior, and that I seek His guidance in all that I do. I know, as you do, that our freedoms come not from man, but from God. My record of public service reflects my reverence for the Natural Rights with which we have been endowed by a loving Creator."
Could conservative Christians ask for a testimony that is any clearer?
Should Ron Paul win the Republican nomination, he would almost certainly win the general election. His constitutional, common-sense ideals would be attractive to such a broad range of voters, I dare say that he would win a landslide victory, no matter who the Democrats nominated. Conservatives, independents, libertarians, union members, and even some liberals (mostly those who oppose the war in Iraq and Bush's Big Brother schemes) would support Ron Paul. The challenge is winning the Republican nomination.
Conservative Republicans have only one choice for President in 2008: Ron Paul.
We don't need some empty suit!!! (Fred Thompson)
We don't need a Baby Killer! (Rudy Giuliani)
We don't need some cult religious kook! (you-know-who!)
We need a Tall, Strong, Handsome, Muscle Bound Texan to Kick Hillary's Ass!
If we don't get Ron Paul to represent the Conservatives in the White House - then it might as well be Hillary!
LOL!
See tagline.
Yep - he's really doin' well in the polls.
Sounds like you have a man-crush on Mr. Paul!! Seriously though, I heard most of his interview on Medved on Monday and Ronnie-boy didn’t acquit himself very well on either domestic or foreign policy. We’re much better with Duncan Hunter.
It appears that REVEREND Chuck Baldwin of the Crossroads Baptist Church is doing exactly what true conservatives deplore in the ‘Rats, using black churches to promote their political agenda.
In truth, the FEC ought to be taking a good hard look at Reverend Baldwin.
LOL! The author has a bad case of hyperbolic rodomontade. This is not conducive to the reader’s forming a good impression of the candidate.
Ol’ Duncan Hunter is cleaning up at the end of the Elephant Parade.
Fred Thompson will be the Republican nominee.

I'm for either Hunter or Tancredo....
He's not even trying....I don't think he wants it. As far as I can see - he's just an empty suit.
R. Paul beats both of them in poll data.
LOL! You’ve got all the typical criticisms covered there. :)
No real conservative could support ......blah blah blah
What an incredibly pompous statement.
Paul is uncomfortable talking about his faith - Why? Is he embarrassed?
As a “real” conservative shouldn’t Paul know whether homosexuality is a sin or not?
As a real conservative shouldn’t he stop blaming the US for islamic fascism?
There will be more posts from others of FR I am sure......
But the arrogance of this article makes me want to hurl.
Yeah, almost as good as your boy, right?
BTW that’s REAL polls....
So RP is pushing the trash can then...
And if so, let it be!... But social conservatives MUST NOT SELL OUT their principles! :)
There... you'll enjoy that comment :)
Is this from Scrappleface??
Ron Paul is not a conservative.
If I want my wife and daughters forced to wear burkas, all of us forced to give up our freedoms and convert to Islam and forced to kneel and pray to Allah or beheaded, I will vote for Ron Paul. Since I understand the threat to us and the real dangers of retreating and surrendering in Iraq to al Qaeda, I WILL NEVER vote for the blame America first, we deserved 9/11, flag waving, surrender monkey Ron Paul.
Well said.
(chuckle)
The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the Federal Government, are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State Governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negociation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will for the most part be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects, which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties and properties of the people; and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State

Yep - he’s really doin’ well in the polls.

Last I checked we still have 5 months before the primaries. Hunter is the best candidate on the issues and as a man. Actually, from what I know of Ron Paul, his personal life is exemplary as well. Hunter will not move up if his natural supporters wait for others to start the momentum . . . conservatives have to create it.
Ol Duncan Hunter is cleaning up at the end of the Elephant Parade
Well I can tell ya he is picking up nuggets of gold in those piles. Each nugget is well worth the find.
Well said....
Fred Thompson can, with both hands tied behind his back.
2008 is a looooong way away. Relax. The best (candidate) is yet to come. A lot of things will happen between now and then that will clear up a cloudy political picture. Think war, terrorism, economy, campaign finance excesses, personal revelations...etc.
Just so you know, I’m ashamed that the candidate for President of the United States, Ron Paul, is from Texas.
Ron Paul (R-wild shrimp)
I think I could go the rest of my life without voting for another Texan for President.
The author, Chuck Baldwin, is not a Republican, making his motives immediately suspect.
Ditto!
Burke- Evil flourishes when good men do nothing.
Even if you choose the right path you must keep moving or get run over!
The furry of the past two weeks, the excellent results in the hashish straw polls and online, the excitement among the deep base of the DU antiwar crowd and the "real" conservitives has had a major impact.
He has blazed, like a rocket, all the way to 3% in the real polls...
“Fred Thompson will be the Republican nominee.”
Oh I guess it’s all decided now. Thanks. No need for a Primary at all.
LOL! ;)
Calm down man and come out from under your bed...I hope you are able to hide your terror from your daughters
************
De nada, baby.
What principles? Continued destruction of the separation of powers between the states and the national government? All in the name of doing what is 'right'? Last time social 'conservatives' wielded their big stick to pass an Amendment for what is 'right' it was overturned by another Amendment.
Work within your state to change the minds of the public on moral issues. But quit mucking about in Washington to pass some national moral policy
Paul’s comments about the U.S. to blame for Islamic facism were way too over the top for me. I couldn’t support him in a primary but would vote for him or anyone else over Hillary.
That leaves us with Thompson, Huckabee, Hunter, and Tancredo. At the end of the day, Thompson will likely be the nominee.
Try the straw polls if you don’t care about the online polls.
He is running a close second to Thompson in first place wins.
Pinging you to read this.
“RP can’t beat Hillary. Period.
Fred Thompson can, with both hands tied behind his back.”
Fred Thompson can’t beat Hillary. You are dreaming.
Keep practicing your spanglish, you will need it if Thompson gets elected.
Well-played, Perdogg. Thanks for my morning laugh.
I can defend me and mine. I will put down many with my 12 gauge and glock 40s. It is all you wimpy Paulnuts, liberals and can’t we just convert to Islam and not cause a problem surrendercrats that would give up the fight and thus too much ground on our soil for those of willing to stand and fight them. Instead of killing and defeating them off on foreign soil, Paul would rather fight them here.
