VIDEO: Lord of the Rings Film Star Ian McKellen Admits to Ripping Out Hotel Bible Sections Against Homosexuality

By John-Henry Westen

AUKLAND, NZ, August 30, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - British Actor Ian McKellen who has used the mega-stardom he achieved playing Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings films to promote homosexuality, has admitted to ripping out pages of hotel bibles that refer to homosexuality.

In an August 10 interview on New Zealand's TV1 Close Up program McKellen was confronted by the interviewer questioning the truth of the rumour "He's the one, that when he stays in hotels rips the part of the bible out that criticizes homosexuality."

"Yes it is true," responded McKellen in even tones.  "Its Leviticus 18:22 that I object to, or is it 22:18, I've always got to look it up.  Thou shalt not lie with a man as with a woman, it is an abomination. And they, I think the punishment for an abomination was being stoned to death," he said.

McKellen added, "I think it's rather obscene and pornographic, and shouldn't be there, so I remove it."

Asked how many bibles he has vandalized, McKellen replied, "I have no idea, but other people do it as well, people send me evidence that they have been removing that."

McKellen has been vandalizing bibles in the same fashion for at least a few years.  He first admitted publicly to the activity in 2004 in an interview with the UK Telegraph. (see: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml;jsessionid=4UNBF1MS0VDI3QFIQMFCFF4AVCBQYIV0?xml=/arts/2004/05/17/bfian.xml&page=2 )

In May last year, McKellen campaigned for homosexual 'marriage' in Britain.  He complained that a then-new UK law allowing homosexual civil unions did not go far enough. "I really can't see why the government couldn't just say gay people can get married - that would have been true equality and so much simpler.  But that hasn't been done because they couldn't face the furore," he said.

Ironically, the genius behind the story which gave McKellen his current pedestal - J.R. Tolkien - held that homosexuality was a disorder and was a staunch defender of traditional Catholic teaching on sexual morality.

Tolkien's thoughts on human sexuality are most clearly represented in his personal writings.  In Tolkein's letter to his then-21 year old son Michael, he warned that illicit sexuality is one of the prime dangers for souls.  "The devil is endlessly ingenious, and sex is his favorite subject," he wrote.

Tolkien was very aware of the hardships of remaining faithful in marriage, but recognized that in only in God's plan for marriage can happiness be found.  He wrote, "No man, however truly he loved his betrothed and bride as a young man, has lived faithful to her as a wife in mind and body without deliberate conscious exercise of the will, without self-denial." And in another place he said, "Christian marriage is not a prohibition of sexual intercourse, but the correct way of sexual temperance--in fact probably the best way of getting the most satisfying sexual pleasure."

This kind of behavior just reinforces stereotypes about emotional instability and mental health problems. It would seem to me that people wanting to promote an image of homosexuality as just an alternative lifestyle would be smart enough not to engage in such childish antics.

What's even more bizarre is the gay Christian movement. They selectively choose which parts of the Bible they will believe. I knew a guy at work several years ago whose cubicle was filled with "Christian" posters and pamphlets, including one odd one depicting hell fire. When I found out he was homosexual, I couldn't understand how someone could totally misinterpret the Bible. Who can blame him, though, since many churches today are openly embracing this neo-liberal of Jesus as free-loving tolerate all hippie.

If you haven't read the LDS Proclamation on the Family, I urge you to read it, as it will confirm your beliefs on the sanctity of the family.

The new Book Burners.

Only this modern group is much more hypocritical after spending decades using the accusation of bookburning against their philosophical enemies.

At least this pervert does not deny, but even admits the fact that the Bible clearly condemns homosexuality.

I bet McKellen and the other Bible haters have no problem with pornography and even kiddie porn.

Faggies like McKellen demand `tolerance’ with angry shouts, but then fail to allow it to work both ways.

Intolerant faggie! He’s as bad as the atheist father of commie Barbara Ehrenreich, who simply stole every Gideon Bible out of every hotel room he stayed in, then made huge triumphant piles of them in his living room.

Why do homosexuals have to campaign for being homsexuals? I think it is because they know what they do is perverted and a mental disorder, and try to make themselves feel better by defending it. There is nothing normal about it.

Because disregarding the parts of the Bible you don't agree with is a matter of conscience.

homosexuality is a mental disorder.

Before the PC police got into medicine full time cause they couldn't be real doctors, the DSM criteria indicated homosexuality as a mental illness.

It shows a lack of gender identification, low impulse control with compulsive behavior, narcissistic thinking, and predilection to addictive behavior. Anybody that thinks going into public stalls for sex is normal, has a problem themselves.

The sad and pathetic thing is that the homosexuals know they are participating in aberrant behavior, but in a truly childish fashion are closing their eyes, covering their ears and saying,"naah-nah-nah-nah, can't hear what your saying".

This actor that rips up bibles is a grown man, acting like a little child...that's all that needs to be shown. The action speaks volumes of the pathetic view he has of himself and the inability to even control this childish act.

> What’s the big deal? People effectively throw out the portions of the Bible they don’t like all the time. It’s like a scriptural smorgasboard.

I have to agree. I just got bashed on another thread for suggesting that not everybody believes the same thing the most literal of Christians do. Yet within the Bible there are:
- dietary requirements to avoid pork and other products (you can eat it if you are a guest somewhere and it’s placed in front of you — but you can’t go out and kill it and eat it yourself.)
- requirements that a woman with her period be “put apart” for a week, after which she has to take two turtles or two doves to church for an offering.
- assertions that the Earth is flat and does not move.
- an assertion that pi = 3.0.

I could give other examples. But the point is that you’re right — very few people who proclaim themselves Biblical literalists actually are.

I am a Christian (whether defined by belief or actions) but someday I want to go to space and see for myself the spherical Earth. And I hope they use something a little closer to 3.141593 in their calculations to get me there. And if I happen to go up with a woman who’s having her period, it really won’t bother me any.

He can rip the pages of Scripure he doesn't like out of every single Bible on the face of the earth and it won't change Scripture and it won't change his fate.

When the day comes for Ian McKellen to face God, the Scriptures will be perfectly intact, and Mr. McKellen will be judged by every word in those Scriptures. And all the denial of that fact and all the momentary destruction of a few Bibles won't change that reality.

Mr. McKellen will spend all eternity knowing what he could have had if he had not waged war on God. There is no loss at all compared to eternity in hell, banished forever from the sight of Almighty God.
