I knew it was Maryland. It’s all the government money.

There is big business also. Like the Discovery/Travel Channels.

Does this take into account cost-of-living?

$300K in Texas or Alabama can get you a palatial estate ... in Manhattan it can get you an apartment about the only slightly smaller than my first apartment.

Maryland is filled with vast numbers of lazy, incompetent government workers racking in mega-bucks.

YOUR stolen mega-bucks. (mostly federal “workers”)

I heard somewhere that if you were to take 16 counties in the Delta away from Mississippi, we'd actually rank in the middle of many of these surveys.

What Hollywood and many outsiders think of Mississippi, I think of the Delta. You go there and it's like going back 40 years. The casinos in Tunica and the 4-laning projects have improved it (formerly, it was like going back 70 years), the Delta has to be home to some of the poorest, most ig'nant people I've ever come across.

That’s a reason the state is so Blue.

“Keep voting Dem for more $100k+ government/education jobs that we’re entitled to.”

Today the kook Governor is about to raise the minimum wage for state contractors from $8.5 to $11.5 an hour. Just like that. Wish I could get a 30% raise on a whim with no fanfare.

There’s a huge amount of Biotech and Defense contracting and consulting in MD. It’s not all government workers.

That reminds me of this image I saw yesterday:

The graphic represents people who live in Manhattan who also collect farm subsidies. The big red dots are folks who collect more than $250,000 per year.

I wonder what the graphic for Maryland would look like?

True. Guess I should look at the bright side.
Speaking of richest places, I’d bet the clubhouse on saturday was the richest place in America.
Of course, they wouldn’t let me near the place.

“West Byrdland Virginny?.........How on earth can that be?.”

Money doesn’t solve poverty regardless of what the bleeding heart liberals say.

Hawaii and Alaska also have inflated cost-of-living indexes. Everything has to be flown in or shipped in my boat, except sand and ice, respectively. As a result, everyone from pipe fitters to school teachers have pay scales in those states which are higher than elsewhere. This is also why Sears, Wal-Mart and other national chain sales say "excluding Hawaii and Alaska" in their sales prices.
