The vote was supposed to be until 1 or 2 pm, but GOP security prevented registered Delegates from entering the building who were wearing Ron Paul signs at 10am.
I was standing over by the Granny warriors when 2 delegates approached me and asked me to help them get into the convention center.
They had showed up at the door a little before 10am wearing Ron Paul shirts. The security guard told them to change into proper attire. They left and changed then came back and it was now 10:10/10:20 and the security told them the registration was closed.
Apparently everyone who showed up from out of town or with an online registration recpt. was denied access unless they got there before 10am and in proper attire.

“Is There anyone from Texas that was there that can Fonfirm or deny this happened? If you can confirm do you perhaps have a copy of the so called letter. I semll something fishy so want to check it out Thanks.”
Should have read “Is There anyone from Texas that was there that can confirm or deny this happened? If you can confirm do you perhaps have a copy of the so called letter. I smell something fishy so want to check it out Thanks.”
It’s a conspiracy!
What’s fishy is the Paulistinians who think they can walk in anywhere they please and dictate rules to organizers of events so that they better suit their master.
Sounds to me as though those people knew that they were not properly dressed—they didn’t argue about their attire. Because they chose to do what they did, they missed the deadline for entry. They made bad choices, didn’t they? (They remind me of a lot of teenagers.)
If everyone was turned away after a specified time, then what are Dr. Paul's supporters complaining about?
PAUL/SHEEHAN '08
Who is Ron Paul?
You beat me to it! After the conspiracy theories fizzle, Ron Paul supporters will demand that they really didn't want to win. (After all, straw polls aren't mentioned in the constitution!)
If everyone was turned away after a specified time, then what are Dr. Paul’s supporters complaining about?
Watching the video that does not seem to be the case several arrived only they arrived with delegate badges while the accusers arrived only with letters (I do not know what time so can’t comment) I just smell sour fish and thought perhaps a Texan might be able to confirm or Deny this as being true.
This denial of entry after 10:00 a.m. was brought on by the U.S. policies in the Middle East.
If they didn't single out Dr. Paul's supporters for denial of access, then I don't see the problem. If everyone carrying letters instead of badges was turned away then there's no problem.
The only problem I see is if they didn't single out Ron Paul's supporters for denial of access.
So...whaddya think? Black Cherry on this one?
I just knew there had to be more to this just found this
“Several noted that Paul had more supporters at the poll but most were not eligible to vote because the Republican Party of Texas only allowed those who had been delegates in recent years to a state or national convention to actually cast ballots.”
http://www.star-telegram.com/629/story/221103.html
Now it smells worse, which was it because of not having delegate badges or because they had not voted in recent years?
In the FWIW department I am not a Ron Paul supporter I just want to see who da heck is telling da truth is all
Ron “cut and run” Paul’s supporters never get a break.

The Paulbearer Moonbattery Factor for this Thread HAS BEEN ELEVATED to
STRAWBERRY
THIS IS NOT A DRILL
If it’s really a fonspiracy, I’ll need fonfirmation before I’ll be fonvinced.
This is from a friend that was at the Straw Poll, “That Ron Paul really gags me and he had an enourmous following there. What a bunch they are tho most of them looked like throw backs to the hippie generation and many many of them were very rude. They had a hard time believing their guy didn’t win the poll and not only that, that he came in so far below Hunter. well, Hunter was brilliant and we were just so proud to be a part of it. Oh yea crazy Cindy Sheehan was there outside with some of her nutty followers protesting but we were inside all day and fortunately didnt have to cross paths with her.”.
Frankly, I don’t believe anything Ron Paul supporters have to say at this point. Many of them are true-blue small government conservatives. But they have been infiltrated by a huge number of absolute nutjobs.
It’s a foney issue.
Yours is a description of the Paul fans that I can accept.
No, no it was Dubya who did it!
Now we know why Karl Rove left DC on 8/31. It was ROVE who did it!
No, it was rival shrimpin' interests that did it!
No, it was the New York City Transit District that did it! The NYCTD wanted those bus and trolley subsidies that palePaulie earmarked for Galveston.
NO!!! It was Al Qaeda's enemies who did it!!!
Hmmmm...kind of the same ratio we see here on FR?
I had planned to drive to Ft Worth to vote in the straw poll. Then I learned that I wasn’t eligible because I was never a delegate to anything. I’m a Hunter supporter, but when I learned of the rules, I simply stayed home.
I see the usual gang of idiotic trolling numbskulls has turned out for your thread. The debate on Wednesday in NH should be interesting. In June, we had as many Ron Paul supporters as all of the other candidates combined. We’ll see if any of the other campaigns can bring anyone out, or if like all the other recent campaign events in NH, the other campaigns bring out two dozen tired party hacks and we bring out 250 die hard supporters.
You nailed it. Paul's campaign is being hijacked by the anti-war kooks and the anarchist anti-gov't libertarians. PAUL NEEDS TO DENOUNCE THIS CRAP NOW!
Close friend of John Galt.
LOL!
Couldn’t agree with you more. But he has attracted the whackos for years and years...and never denounced them.
Although I agree with a lot of what he SAYS I would never vote for him because of the followers he attracts. Witness the post here. Ive met a few......and I wouldn’t want them in my home...
You didn’t have to have voted in recent years;
you had to have been a delegate to one of the past 4 state GOP conventions, i.e., in the past 8 years.
An approach that was apparently beyond the capabilities of Paulinistas.
I was eligible to participate in the straw poll but chose not to do so.
According to the registration form, which I still have,
“IMPORTANT: Credentials and tickets will be available for pickup at Will Call with a valid photo ID. Delegates must pick up their credentials by 10 a.m. on September 1st in order to vote. These will be held under the last name of the Delegate. These will not be mailed.”
There is nothing in the packet about attire.
Ron Paul sounds, smells and acts like a screwball. And Larry Craig gets dumped first? How?
The video doesn’t say anything about attire that I could hear (much of it being unintelligible), but the best part was a comment posted below the video to the effect that Paul supporters would become “Freedom fighters like the Palestinians against the Zionists.” Any campaign that has nuts like that in it is in series trouble.
difference between grabass and screwball

Can you scan the letter at 100 percent and put a jpg up on a free image hosting site and post the url to it so we can read it word for word?
Not sure the problem if any but you had to be a delegate to the previous 4 state conventions and/or the previous 2 national presidential conventions..... This was posted on the online registration form and on the web site general info site.... I doubt there was any conspiracy regarding who could get in at the door. Either you had a registration form or had proof of your attendance at one of the previous conventions.... Pretty straight forward. Althought I did read of one that had trouble getting the info sent to him and had to register at the convention site.
........
Who can attend:
Delegates to the Straw Poll - Must have been a Delegate or Alternate Delegate to at least one of the last 4 Republican State Conventions (2000, 2002, 2004 or 2006) or one of the last 2 Republican National Conventions (2000 or 2004). If you have not received a registration packet in the mail and meet these qualifications, please email strawpoll@texasgop.org to request that a new registration packet be mailed to you. Be sure to include your current address and phone number in the email.

I am on my Treo, can’t watch the video, yet. However the time rule was published. There was no “proper attire” rule. Tons of people were in t-shirts, including plenty of Ron Paul shirts. (those orange and green shirts with “Who is this man?” were ugly, BTW. Most of us were in red, white, and blue. That’s one of the things that separates us from the anti- America crowd: we enjoy the dressing up and showing the colors, wearing our flag pins.
“I didnt see Italians or Canadians flying planes into buildings... why not target the ACTUAL TERRORISTS?!”
We are.
Welcome to Free Republic.
No, I can’t.
You raised some good points. Welcome to FR.
Why all you have to do is cover up your name. all I need is the rest showing the wording that you claimed is there. Without it I can not prove who is telling the truth here. Now that you say no and the other individual posted his alleged letter I have nothing to compare so may be you are not telling the truth instead of the other person as I suspected. One thing is for sure someone is a liar
I don’t have a scanner. That is why.
I dont have a scanner. That is why.
No problem get one of your relatives to scan it in. No relatives then a friend or how about scanning it in at work or the library? There are tons of ways to scan or do you just want to hand out more excuses?
Watched the video, heard the people talking about the deadline, showing the papers with the time notice and there’s no mention of “proper attire.” Many people attended in T-shirts of all kinds.
What a bunch of hooey!
There was no dress code and there were many people at the meeting in all sorts of T-shirts, including Ron Paul’s. Look at the people who have credentials and who are going in on the video. Listen to them talk about the time constraints and even read the letters.
This is all a bunch of baloney.
