Today on Labor Day, friends and I attended a press conference held by the "RNC Welcoming Committee," an anarchist group promising to disrupt the 2008 convention in St. Paul, MN. About 15 were present, 5 of which were the anarchists.
Three reporters arrived and set up their cameras (MPR, WCCO and local cable access). One anarkid handed out a printed release while the spokesgrrl put on her microphone (this part is overheard and paraphrased):

Reporter1: Whats your name?
SBR: Im Sandra Brown-Rivers from RNC Welcoming Committee.
Reporter1: Whats your title?
SBR: I dont have a title.
Reporter1: Cant we have a little background on your organization?
SBR: Um, were not taking questions. Im just reading this statement (This part is verbatim of their release):
Thank you, ladies, gentlemen, and otherly-gendered of the press, for joining us on this, most glorious of occasions. This Labor Day, weekend, anarchists and anti-authoritarians from every city, every town, every hamlet, every last Hooterville of this great nation converged a grand congress. Together, we have magicked into being a detailed plan, worthy of note, to receive the 2008 Republican National Convention. Like many a good plan, it is broad in scope, aimed at nothing less than complete control (!!) of this hallowed turf, our fair city. Today, we declare our first victory, having achieved a complete shutdown of government services citywide. This we have accomplished whilst wading in the dark tide of the State and their attempts to crush us on the eve of our festivities, when the gentle flesh of our comrades was met with hard metal and penetrating volts by members of the self-appointed police force a foreshadowing glimpse. Yet here we stand, and our chariots ride on. Much as a phoenix rises from its own ashes, we admit that tomorrow the city will function anew. But know this: its hegemony, like all but the truest of loves, is fleeting, ephemeral. ###
Anarkids exit, stage left - to their bike or daddy's car.

Please see Mitch Berg's post at Shot in the Dark blog, where he called this "the most perfectly self-fisking statement in the history of public oratory." You cant make this stuff up.

PFFFHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Must be from Uranus or some such place, Definitely not earthly!
There is just too much satirical material here! I must sort it out in my mind and come back when I can control my LMAO. It’s too much I tell ya, too much!
And they expect to be taken seriously. Tomorrow, they will take credit for the sunrise.
Sandra Brown Rivers ... "Sandy, Brown Rivers" Like, say, the Mississippi River?
This is some fairly amazing stuff. At least our kids don’t graduate from high school without knowing how to make absolute fools of themselves. Gotta give the education department kudos for that.
They may not be able to make change, write a coherent paragraph or think their way out of bed, but they sure know how to manage anarchy all on their own.
I know I’d sure be proud to know I set them on this path. NOT!
Is that the St. Paul RNC Welcoming Committee or the St. Ron Paul RNC Welcoming Committee?

Who We Are The RNC Welcoming Committee is an anarchist / anti-authoritarian organizing body preparing for the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Like the St. Croix and the Mississip? They're about as subtle as they are clever.
I think so, too. This appears to be satire, not "activism."

The home-grown anarkids don’t appear to be too threatening. LOL
The ones I’m concerned about are the professional protestors bought and paid for by Soros, et al. I was in Uptown a couple of years ago when the bike people literally shut down Lake and Hennepin.
Ryback and the idiot in charge of St. Paul probably have the police on a very short leash. Gah!
ping
No Jenny, it’s real. I know Minnesocold and I know Minnesota.
How the heck do you think we have Al Franken running for Senate? There are a lot of crazy people here. :)
I’m with others here who think this is satire, but one can never tell with the permanently unhinged in our society. Thanks for a good chuckle on a Monday evening!

I’m laughing my buns off that people think this is satire!
Thanks for your efforts covering this ‘event’, Minne.
Life is truly stranger than fiction, particularly when one lives in Minnesota.
The big guns (Soros groups and unions) will be much more of a problem next year than the kiddies. But local protest groups will have problems now that these idiots are infiltrating.
Me too, MC. It's really magicked into a fun thread, worthy of note. :-D
Sadly, it’s not satire. Minnesocold’s one of our FReepers that is out there covering this stuff. She walks the walk, unlike this keyboard commando (yes, me!).
Kudos Minnesocold!
You betcha! More magicke to ya!
No prank. Here's the link to see all statements released by the anarkids.
5 anarchists. lol! Lamentations all around for the certain doom predicted by the Magicked Messengers of Republican Convention Prevention. Our future has been ‘Magicked”. Resistance is fertile.
Anarkids....vile offspring of the Kosmonuts.
How can they organize and still call themselves anarchists????
Um...it's Labor Day. What isn't shut down? Am I missing something here?
Problem is, the media does take them seriously. And, with a straight face, they will report that they have "taken credit for the sunrise".
The MSM, you see, wants them to succeed...
hmmmmm....an anarchal conundrum. lol!
Block traffic on the 35W bridge. That'll stick it to the man!
MPR and ‘CCO. Liberal pukes.
Whoever heard of anarchists w/o tats? Even wiccans are all tatted up.
Which one is the FBI informer?
Pretty sweet to have new Prius to put your anti-corporate bumper stickers on. I forgot, who makes Prius again, some local co-op vegan farmer isn’t it? Wish I was rich enough to drive a brand new car to my protests.
GIggling...
Thanks for the ping Calpernia.

A good question. I'm sure after seeing their "Getting Ready" video that the FBI is actively infiltrating...
New Jersey FBI Director Warns Of Homegrown Terror Threat
Posted on September 3rd, 2007 by Homeland Security NTARC News
New Jerseys new FBI director warned Friday the homegrown terror threat is an ongoing concern and that his agents are currently tracking numerous extremists in the tri-state area who are potential security threats. There are individuals that we are very concerned about that are engaged in activities that are criminal and potentially threaten the homeland, said Weysan Dun, Newarks FBI Director. We are very aggressively working to monitor these individuals to develop the intelligence and certainly when we can develop a prosecutable case to take effective law enforcement action.
Dun said he worries six years after the 9/11 attacks that the public is growing weary and complacent about the ongoing terror threat. But he stressed there are no new specific plots or threat information for the New York and New Jersey regions.
Dun is a 25-year FBI veteran who had been running the FBIs Springfield, Illinois division.<<<
This thread reminds me of the above article.
Thanks for the ping.
Self-fisting?
Maybe we should put together a "Welcoming Committee" welcoming committee... Shut down their attempted shut down...
