Overseas newspapers and websites are abuzz with speculation and rumours as to when the US will launch an attack on Iran to destroy its military and nuclear facilities.
One website reports that a crew member on a US carrier has reported that targets had been prioritised and tasked to specific aircraft, bases and missile cruisers.
The website quotes the crew member as saying: "Yes. We're gong to hit Iran, big-time. Whatever political discussions are going in is window dressing and perhaps even a red herring. I see what's going on below deck here in the hangars and weapons bays. And I have a sick feeling about how it's all going to turn out."

Hehe, beat me to it.
But hey, top ten though!
If the website he’s referring to is the DailyKos, it’s been debunked.
Yes, it looks like thats where they picked it up from. Good catch.
“Operation Crimson”, the invasion of Canada. Drawn up by the War Department. We weren’t real sure where the Commonwealth stood during the early 1930’s.
The US Navy (and the other branches as well) has been planning strikes on Iran ever since the hostage crisis. This is nothing new. The plans are updated as needed to keep current with the threat. I am sure there were plans put to paper to blow up this reactor the day they broke ground for it.
Nothing to see here. Move along folks, show’s over, shows over
The underlying tone of this article makes it rather clear that the writer doesn’t like the idea of us taking Iran on.
Why not? Iran is a nation that has been sending in terrorists and munitions into Iraq. They have sought to destabalize the nation. They publicly offer to take over the administration of Iraq.
Is this the nation we want to go nuclear, a nation that is on a first name basis with Al Qaeda and the Taliban?
Look, I have trepidation about mixing it up with Iran, but fire away IMO. That jack-ass running the nation is stinking up the place.
I sure hope so.
well this data could have come from Pentagon emails as told to the Marlborough Express by our fiends(sp correct) in China???
No clout...but the Kiwis do offer the Lord of Rings film site tour, which is probably what the should stick to touting...
We have plans for a military strike on New Zealand. We have plans for a strike on every country. The one on New Zealand was drafted in two hours.
"A crew member." And of course, the knowledge level of all crew members on a carrier is the same. This sounds like scuttlebutt from a "Able Toiletseat Wiper, 3rd Class."
Gee, way to go, New Zealand. Even the head Kommie at Kos rebuked his idiot followers for falling for this one.
bush owes nothing to anyone except the American people. His legacy will be very simple..... much like Truman....it is to protect America..
He will do what he needs to do...
Can anyone... imagine....him allowing Iran to obtain nuclear capabilities on HIS watch... no way... no how...
I see the following scenario...assuming our intelligence says that IRAN has capabilities..
1. Behind the scenes warning that if they do not stop their program they will be hit..
2. We’ll wake in the morning and have news that IRAN’s facilities were hit along with Revolutionary Guard...
3. Be damed with the coming election....who cares... He will pass off a stronger US to whomever takes over...

That has to be a lot of bunk because Ahmadumejhn says that the U.S. will never attack Iran.
This morning on “The War Room with Quinn and Rose” the host said that he has info from an insider that military strikes are imminent, and that’s the reason for Bush meeting with so many right-wing talk show hosts lately (Quinn not included). He said these hosts were to begin talking about it this week.
It’s only my second time listening to the show, so I don’t know if he’s legitimate or a crackpot, but I found the discussion very interesting.
No mention of it on warroom.com that I found, though.
Bush will do nothing about Iran
We will be lucky if he can fight off the democrats on Iraq
Of the three named Axis of Evil nations, the US has made Iraq decidedly non-nuclear, North Korea is very close to becoming non-nuclear as a direct result of US efforts, and if NK heels to that promise, only Iran remains.
If Iran’s President Bob is truly the genius mathematician he claims to be, he should be able to cipher three minus two pretty easily.
Do you really think Bush cares what people think about him... or the media... Like Truman... he will make a decision based on what is known to him... and I guarantee you the intelligence is tens times better than it was withe that traitor Tenet who tried to undercut the president...’
No....Bush will do what needs to be done... as he always has done... He will proceed quietly and behind closed doors... I think Iran is feeling the heat...
Let me ask you this.... Why has N Korea all of a sudden decided to stop their program? To be sure they were given some ultimatum behind the scenes...
I might be wrong.... but on the other hand... I don’t think so...

I am sure your scenario is a neo-con fantasy. But, in this political climate, I don't think it's likely.
Unfortunately, the war in Iraq has not gone as expected. Selling a war on Iran will be met with skepticism on both sides of the aisle.
An attack on Iran, however, necessary and beneficial in the long-run, will have negative, immediate consequences. The ones left holding the bag will be the Republicans running for re-election in 08.
Conservative Republicans (traditional-type), as well the military officers who do not agree with extending operations, will leak any and all information they can get their hands on. There will be no surprise attack, I am afraid.
“”Bush has Iran in his sights””
I really wish this were true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HA!
I love that one!
