I hope you’re right about all of these tens of millions of rational blacks who don’t agree with Whoopi. But, I’d sure as heck like to see them speak up. The fact is, what Mr. Vick did (and Ms Goldberg — along with many other black leaders — has now excused or defended) simply exposes the dark underbelly of today’s dominant black culture. And no one can do a thing about it except those tens of millions who seem to prefer to remain silent. Or, worse yet, supportive.
Neither were "Jim Crow" laws and segregation. Did that make them OK too?
Are we supposed to be defending this guy because he’s a prominent black football player? If any of us got busted for dogfighting, who would care?
IMO, there aren’t many people who would defend Vic unless they came from the victimization wing of Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton. What Vic did was disgusting, and I think most blacks who own dogs of their own get it.
The vocal buffoons like Goldberg et all, are just that. They speak for some no doubt, but there are a lot of people who thy don’t speak for.
In some ways it’s actually good for the lefties to see what their members stand for. For instance, where’s PETA’s public statement on Whoopie’s comments?
Good points, one and all. As to PETA, the only official statement I’ve heard from them is calling for the eradication of pit pulls. Absolutely true. In other words, if the conflict is between defending innocent animals and being PC about urban thugs, they opt for extinction. What a bunch of hypocrits!
I would bet money on it!!!
Face it. Dogfighting is more prevelant than we know. Whoopie is just setting up the argument that we shouldn’t do anything about it. Condemning dogfighting is like condemning rap music.
Whoopi was born and raised in NYC. How the hell would she know about what is common in the South?
That’s pretty amazing isn’t it. Wow
Did 'em both myself.. It's fun ;-)
That it even exists in the US is proof of that. I had no idea it still did.
Frankly, I hope every practitioner spends about a decade in a place like camp Levenworth for their efforts.
I like that analogy to rap music. Pretty good...
So much for the rational arguement huh. Pretty good comeback. Look, I do think issues of cruelty to animals go across party lines. While I accept your trouncing on the issue of rationality with grace, I still maintain that Blacks won’t support what Vic was up to.
Good one.
She was in The Color Purple. Apparently being in a movie about something makes one an expert.
What’s growing in her hair?
Buck Owens had a C&W song out with the lyric “I wouldn’t take her to a dog fight even if she had a chance to win “
Paging the Humane Society....
Possibly surpassing Rosie in that department?
I grew up in the south too. All my relatives are from the south and dogfights were unheard of.
But what do I know? I ain’t nothin but a cracker anyway./s
Same here. Dog fighting isn't part of southern culture - it's part of thug culture.
