"The right wing will come at this movie. I have done something that just cannot be done. You can never say anything critical of the troops."

He’s a propagandist for the enemy and admitted that he “made up” rape charges because lawyers wouldn’t permit him to libel existing soldiers.
And we will respond by avoiding you rfilm, and pointing ou tthat you are a no-talent hack.
I would say when you lie to the public is much more important.

How about just limiting it to factual things that the troops have done? That might be a start.
The guy makes up stuff and then gets upset because he knows people are going to call him on it. What a moroon...
I try not to dwell on stuff like this, because it makes me want to pound this MF into the dirt.
Click on the comments from the article, people have unloaded on this guy as they should.
Laura Ingram was on his ass today. She would have beaten him up if she could. She called this movie ‘pornography’.
You CANNOT say anything you want.
You are prohibited from yelling “fire” in a crowded movie theater in the absence of a fire.
You are prohibtied from lying under oath.
You are prohibtied from smearing a person with lies in public (slander).
You are prohibited from smearing a person with lies in print, film, tv, radio, internet (libel).
You are prohibited from making false claims about your product (truth in advertising).
You are prohibited from providing aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war (treason).
While Axis Sally “served” in Germany and make insulting radio broadcasts about FDR and his “kike boyfriends”, it was a fictional radio drama that eventually got her convicted of treason (this for a woman who posed as a Red Cross worker so that she could obtain interviews of wounded GIs and broadcast their comments out of context).
De Palma is a propagandist for the enemy. He’s a no good traitor.
But how much would the National Enquirer want for the movie rights to their published content?
what an idiot. I used to love watching movies, listening to music. Now it’s just not the same. Sigh.
giggle...... good point
Scarface was over the top and an injustice to Howard Hawk’s original, the Untouchables was simply camp, and he sure ruined Ellroy’s very good book with the Black Dahlia. This guy is a schlock director of non-political material, how could anyone expect anything else he touches be anything but a putrid mess.
To those who defend the Academy for honoring Leni Riefenstahl, in part saying that she “had no choice” but to make Nazi propaganda, I point to the career of Fritz Lang and other German directors who were offered the job of propagandist first and got the hell out of Hitler’s playground.
He’s a real piece of shitte..isn’t he?
I wish true patriots would pool their resources and make their own movies. If some high school idiots can make “Loose Change” why can’t conservatives do the same??
Well here is a “short film” that someone made years ago:
Don’t Ever Forget - Remember The Blood Of Heroes (flash presentation)

oh let’s not forget Body Double
the only good thing was the song Relax
What he does is not protected by the Constitution. The crime of treason is spelled out in the Constitution.
He provides aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war and sours morale at home and abroad by making up stories of our troops raping people in Iraq.
This same crap was sold again and again in the US and the UK and Egypt and Turkey...
Some people lost their jobs publishing the hoaxed photos (some sourced from a porn site, other sourced by a treasonous Brit who urinated on a man posing as an Iraq prisoner, only thing was the truck he used in the shot was not deployed).
Just because John Kerry was not punished for the treason of lying about war crimes to Congress (he said decades later that he did not stand by those words, the words of “an angry young man”) does not mean it wasn’t treason.
No, we have a spineless Congress that never wanted to prosecute Henry Fonda’s pro-North Vietnamese daughter so you are unlikely to see anyone prosecuted for treason.
Art has nothing to do with it.
Isn't that the truth?!

Well wait and see how DePalmas next movie does. I know I wont be seeing it.
Our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan are there to weed out terrorists and keep them from coming here. Hey Brian, do you think it would be better if those terrorists did come here? Evidently so.
Its difficult to respond to an effort like this knowing the man spent a long time creating this film. How do you address it just right? I think the best way would be to herald his selection of topic, and realize how he tarnished the whole of our troops with this one act.
The Iraqis, the Iraqi government, the people in the region want us there Brian. Even the Lebanese people are saluting their men for taking out terrorists in Lebanon. Only you and your fellow travelers are determined to create another massive genocide in Iraq by forcing our pullout, to match the one your buds created in Cambodia and Vietnam.
Whats the matter bud, wasnt 3,000,000 dead souls enough?
You are one sick human being. And by the looks of things, there is an epidemic in Hollywood these days. Its something that baffles me, how supposedly intelligent men could stoop so low.
I have no use for any of you. Its beyond me how you can look at yourself in the mirror.
Not anymore.
And a younger Melanie Griffith.
“Dress to Kill” was interesting to say the least.
As you all know, he did do “Casualties of War”.
Get a DVD player and start a collection of classic films. You can order them from Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
The antidote for de Palma disease: Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Ford, Hawks, Ozu, Fleming, Mann, Lang, Curtiz, and more!
What an ego.
I wonder if he would ever mention that Billy Zane and Gary Busey went there “first” by appearing in a Turkish film about Abu Ghraib (Busey reportedly played a Jewish doctor who stole organs from prisoners for sale to wealthy Americans and Israelis).
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN THE NATURE OF THESE FILMS, BRIAN.
My question for “Mr” De Palma: How does it feel to live in a country so free that you can smear the very young men and women who serve to protect your freedoms? You must be very proud of yourself.
He can’t even begin to mimic a Hitchock movie...a monumental failure as a director.
Heavens no! A Hitchcock movie
The comments on this thread indicate that this movie’s events never took place... I’m pleased to learn that it didn’t, but I’m also sure I remember hearing about this. When was the story discredited?
The sickos that did this crime in Iraq were brought to justice by the US military...How’s hollywierd been treating Roman Polanski’s anal rape of a 13 year old girl or woody allen having sex with his adopted daughter?
I’m trying to find funding for a movie about a Hollywood director and actor who go to an enemy country and provide them comfort during a war and while we are under threat from the first country. In the end they are hung for treason. Kind of a twist ending.
De Palma didn’t make a film based on any court case. His legal advisers had him fabricate his own “fake but accurate” tale of GI Rape.
If the film is so compelling, make it after we’ve left. The film’s sole purpose is to turn the American people against the war effort (and to recruit for Al Qaeda).
No. You see in liberal-world the first amendment means they get to speak and if anyone does respond than that is equivalent to attempts to silence them.
Has De Palma ever even made a good movie? I know some of them are entertaining but most of them are Hitchcock rip-offs.
Were you directing that to me?
No. I used your link to register and make a comment of my own. The top two lines were added to my comments by the site. The rest is what I posted there.
I left the added lines in, so you’d know I posted.
Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for the link. I read the responses there and whew, DePalma was ripped to shreds over there. He deserved it.
No problem...I didn’t think so but wanted to be sure.
Take care.
When did the Academy honor Riefenstahl apart from including in a list of significant people who died the previous year?
Actually Allen finds it increasingly difficult to get financing in Hollywood. His recent work has been financed by the BBC.
One of my favorite Hitchcock films (out of many) is FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT. The leader of a “peace” group turns out to be a Nazi trying to disarm the free world. Love it!
